I have lost count at this point of how many gender-locked MMOs have stated either shortly after or before releasing that they would "remove" gender locks in some way, but then never do. Lost Ark is yet another.

First off, with Lost Ark you're playing more in the form of unnamed characters, rather than classes. You see, only an actual person (character) would have family members, and past acquaintances, which your character can encounter while moving through the story (ex: the female martial artist encounters her father, and brother).
Then while I have seen people claim that Amazon/Smilegate promised things like that within a year of global release, they would have both genders for all classes, when looking at past statements, like the one you linked, I don't see any such promises. What Amazon said was that Smilegate has been making other gender versions of classes, which they are, and that Amazon tried to include as many classes that were represented by both genders as they could at launch, which they did. There were no promises that every "class" would have versions in both genders, let alone a time table for that to happen within. Then even for those that do have versions of both genders, they aren't the same, as both do have skill differences, they're just similar.
I don't see people complaining about there not being a male version of Lara Croft from the Tomb Raider series to play as, so why do so many keep bitching about this in service based games? Are people really so insecure that they can't play a female character, when they're male? They say they want to play a character that represents them, yet there they are, skinny as hell, with no real muscle to speak of, while playing an absolutely jacked character, that's some real accurate representation all right, that was sarcasm of course.
There's plenty for people to complain about with Lost Ark, and service based gaming on a whole, what with them being made to be profit generating mechanisms, not good games. With that being the case, I just can't understand why people would waste their time complaining about something as trivial as characters not all being available in both genders. If you think it should be normal in games, then where is your other gender version?
Just don't play male version of a class if you don't like that idea, why did you felt the need to bother writting a Tolkien long story about that?
Wild Hearts has the bladed wagasa
Gunbrella has, the gunbrella
Lost Ark has the aeromancer
I am liking the whole, non weapons used as weapons angle.
I always knew Mary Poppins had a dark side.
What you mentioned would be rare exceptions, not the norm. If you think otherwise, then provide a long list of games that let you select the gender of your character, when they have a defined, and shared backstory. The normal way things are handled is games will either give you a defined character to play as, or just give you a blank slate, and have its class/skill set be it's defining quality.
Then there's for instance various online town hub, instanced dungeon, action RPGs like Elsword, Soul Worker, or Closers where everyone is running around as defined named characters, but most tend to call them classes, then complain how they are gender locked. That's the same thing that's happening in Lost Ark, except that the characters aren't named within the game.
Another issue is that Lost Ark is a service based game, while what you mentioned are games as a product. With games as a product, if you want people to buy it, the usual requirement is that you make a good game, so that is what those behind it are trying to do, make a good game. With service based games these days, especially free to play ones, they're not made to be good games, their designed goal is to be profit generating mechanisms, as such everything goes into that, even when it makes the game worse to play, as the standard process is to create problems, then sell solutions. With the chief goal being to make a profit, it's a given they'd pick the option that let's them generate more profit, that being by splitting a "class" between two characters, rather than just one.
The other matter is as I said in the last post, while people, like the one I was responding to, keep claiming that they promised to make every "class," have both a male, and female version, the fact of the matter is, that was not promised with Lost Ark.
No, in Lost Ark you are playing a class. You know you are because the game tells you so. Also, people aren't generally named Artist, Paladin, Scrapper, Gunslinger and so forth. Those are clearly class names, not personal ones.
Lara Croft is a unique character, not one of many of the Lara Croft class. People don't call for a male version of her because she is female. If a male character was added as option for play it would be another unique character, not It's Ma'am Lara Croft.
It isn't a matter of insecurity but preference. People generally want to be able to choose both the class and gender they play as. This is evidenced by that same complaint being made every time a game with gender locked characters are released.
Among the things to complain about regarding Lost Ark is gender locked characters. It's not as though having other issues somehow negates the annoyance some find that to be.
Complaining about people complaining about gender locked characters in Lost Ark is no better use of one's time yet you seem to feel it worth doing. It's seems to me you're not in a strong position to critique others in the use of their time.
As to why complaints you feel trivial are made, your thoughts aren't all thoughts. Your view isn't all views. Some people do not feel it trivial, at times to the extent they won't even play gender locked game. Others that may not see it as a huge issue would still be happier being able to choose their gender along with the class. Opinions vary. Your perspective isn't The Perspective. What you feel to be trivial is itself trivial.
