Oh how innovative. It's a wonder no one thought of that one before.
Its still awful.. Here is one of the reviews "Also 10 dollars for 1100 runesilver, but weapons cost 1150 so you're forced to buy it for 20 dollars lmao, seems fair" PTW alive and well LOL
Jesus.. that's embarrassing.
Have you tried XDefiant? Based on some of the comments you've made on PvP posts in the past, it looks like something you might like to check out. It's a Ubisoft game.
If the game actually worked. Which it doesn't right now
I have not! I'll check it out - thanks for the recommendation
Am I missing something? When I search YouTube for 'XDefiant' I see a shooter in a modern setting, no fantasy and no barbarians/rangers/clerics at all. I'm confused. Game looks quite good though
Instant turn-off with scummy tactics like this. I wanted to give it a chance but reading this I definitely won't
You're right. I got the name of two games mixed up. The fantasy is Dark and Darker, the extraction shooter. XDefiant is the modern shooter. I was playing Skyrim and watching my son play a few different sessions. Both look really good though.
Just another typical garbage F2P game entirely build around a stingy P2W cash shop!
The BP system was brought in because it is far harder to work out what is going on when a whole raft of changes are made at the same time. They might have more aptly called it Cash Shop 1.1, 1.2 and so on, but that rather gives the game away.
You can of course buy founders packs still, because selling access to something you cant access is just fine by these people.
You can also avail of their 1100 "coins" bundles and use them towards things that cost 1150 coins....
Scummy devs, scummy publishers scummy practices ruining a potentially great game.
1. $20 is a minimal cost to show investors that people are still interested in MMORPG's. So if this game is a wash and has predatory monetary practices and I end up quitting the game, then at least I've shown my support for the genre.
2. If design decisions are made with the cash shop in mind, such as an introduction of pain points in the game that you can solve by spending real money, or by offering power through the shop, I'll just quit the game. Don't spend money on that stuff.
The game is cheap and has no subscription, so a shop is a reasonable alternative. It's up to everyone to vote with the wallets on what's okay to offer in a shop and what isn't.
I prefer when shops only contain DLC's and other content packs that we can buy instead of paying a subscription. It's been the only alternative to subscription service that I've found acceptable.
And I like the art style and use of color.
But overall the design is a bit messy
It is basically a dungeon runner but doesn't actually have that much dungeon content
There are open world zones but not many of them.
It is like a looter type game but there are only like 6 weapon types and not all that many weapons total.
There are fixed characters with skins, like a hero shooter.
There is action combat, not really enough finesse to be a character action game, so it is mostly just using abilities and you only have 4 of those.
I wonder if this was intended to be a different game at one point but was mandated to be a live service game so it was redesigned.
Based on the videos I saw, right now I struggle to see what the hook of this game is supposed to be.
What benefit would innovation in the name provide? The familiar is often better than pointless change.
Is that the purchase of an actual weapon or simply a skin for one. The latter costs nothing if one confines their purchases to those play relevant.
