From what I've got so far this game is less an AC Black Flag but instead more of a World of Tanks with pirates, which is not necessarily a bad thing as long as they flesh out everything else.
Guess we'll see it in the upcoming streams soon.
Bugger off you shill, you probably got paid 110 bucks for a whole month and that is exactly why you have to scam people on these types of forums. If you really did get paid that amount you would not be on here trying to scam people. You literally added a few zeros to your payroll.
For example, in general the longer a ship is the faster it can go in the water (square root of length at the waterline times 1.4). However, a smaller ship can usually turn faster than a larger ship. I've been able to stay ahead of a faster boat in real life by using my smaller boat's faster tacking to stay upwind. I really hope this game has realistic action like that.
Does it have different sail types? A square rigger is great if you are going downwind, but terrible if you are going upwind. Lateen sails are better upwind, not as good downwind.
Cannon ammunition makes a difference too. In PoTBS you could shoot cannon balls, but also have bar shot and grape shot. Grape is good against the crew, but does nothing to the ship itself. Bar shot is used to take down the enemy's sails, and doesn't really hurt the ship or crew. Use bar shot to disable the movement, then hang out on their stern pumping broadsides into them.
I'm really hoping they have some of these realistic mechanics in the game.
