It looked decent but I bet the monetization is going to be completely unhinged.

It looks a little bit better than last time but there's still much to improve. The UI for example is still trash. I still do hope they manage to turn this ship around, pun intended, because a World of Warships-like in a pirate universe is something I'd love to play.

I watched a bit of a streamer and watched how the sails work. As a sailor in real life, I wanted to see how accurate they are to actual sailing ships.

    Well, they aren't.

It looked like they could do a 180 with no change in speed or sail configuration. So it's more like every ship is motorized, with sails as decorations. The direction of the wind has no effect. In fact, I couldn't even figure out what direction the wind was blowing, probably the first thing a sailor notices.

It might be a good game otherwise, but it doesn't appear to be a sailing game.

Apparently they removed the ability to PvP freely. Made a mission thing. Seems to me it would have been better to make PvE and PvP servers but they just gutted the PvP.

    A World of Warships-like without PvP? Now that's a bummer :-/

That's also a shame. The best things about Sea of Thieves are the kinda realistic wind and sails physics. I was hoping to have something similar in Skull and Bones.

Yeah, I see this all the time in film and video.  The sailing ship will be under way, with the sails luffing like madmen.  Not enough patience to set up the shot, so they just motor away, regardless of the look.

If you are holding out for the perfect game, the only game you play will be the waiting one.

Oh .. seems you guys need a Sailing Simulation game. I don't know if there is any but .. good luck in finding one.

Relax, no need to be snarky! There's nothing wrong with a good middle ground between arcade and simulation like it's done in Sea of Thieves. I mean some of the most successful games are mixes between arcade and simulation like Gran Turismo, War Thunder or FIFA. The wind simulation in Sea of Thieves is a huge part of the games fun and still it doesn't feel like a hardcore simulator or would you call SoT that? Using the wind in Skull and Bones in whatever way would surely enhance the pirate sailing experience and immersion instead of going full speed against the wind as if you are on a motor boat.

For those wanting an authentic sailing simulator:

It doesn't do pirate ships, though.

If your game is supposed to be about sailing ships, like this one, then it ought to have actual sailing ships. Otherwise it's just a game with a sailing skin, but not an actual sailing game. It took special skills to run a real sailing ship and even more skills to battle each other. None of that appears to be in the game. So just replace them with ships from World of Warships with sailing paint.

Pirates of the Burning Seas actually does have real sailing mechanics. If you know how to sail you can do better in that game. It is an actual sailing game.

Sort of like a motocross game where everybody really rides tricycles. Why call it a motocross game then?

It's amazing the impact the UI has.  All the work on gameplay and graphics can be totally negated by something as 'simple' as UI.  There is so much info about UI and UX, you would think they would be better at it.
