    So to summarize:

    - Mounts
    - Flail
    - New Zone

Is that about right or is there more? If that's it, I'm not sure that this is going to be the expac that saves New World... not that it needs saving because I'm pretty sure Amazon is willing to prop it up financially as a marketing expense for other developers to be willing to sign on to hosting their games in AWS.

I was hoping for more curated content to higher levels, that does not look like it is happening this year, but the zone they added last year was well received, maybe this one will be.

There really is a ton of changes, i even read that they updated the combat code. I have 2 concerns really which mirror yours. 1st is will there really only be 1 zone with max level content? 2nd is, why the short PTR? If we have learned anything from AGS in the past, is that they do not test their new content enough. Those 2 things aside, i will probably just make a new character when i return and see if i can enjoy the leveling process as pretty much the whole game is different than at launch. And it is a beautiful game graphically. I just could not get past all the bugs and clunky combat i was experiencing....

I will say I rerolled when they released Brimstone Sands and I was glad I did. The leveling journey is quite good now with actual story driven quests and no dead zones in content where you're just stuck grinding mobs like it was at launch. I hit max level well before running out of content. I want to say there were several zones I didn't even step foot in. That part of the game is night and day compared to launch, and is worth the price of the game in of itself even if you quit once you hit max level. It took me several weeks to complete, and the whole journey was entertaining, so I felt like I got my money's worth for sure.

Brimstone sands is an amazing zone but due to the gear scaling and all that, it became a grind for me. It starts out incredibly hard if you are a new 60 and then its all about the gear grind. However, the content was amazing - the story, the zone itself, the atmosphere, etc... If AGS can take the new zone and build on what they did in Brimstone, it will be incredible. Overcrowding will be a pain though :)
They did Brimstone Sands using the same revamped PvE mindset as the low-level zones they had revamped up to that point. The quantity and quality of quests was very good but most importantly, the quests rewarded you with significant weapon upgrades at anywhere between 590 to 615 that ignored expertise requirements and acted as weapons of that actual level.

That helped a lot with the zone difficulty once you had good weapons to play with.

But yeah, getting all your gear slot expertise to 600 and then to 625 with Umbral shards was an obnoxious grind. I'm happy to see that they finally clued in about how universally hated that was and got rid of that whole system.

That's fair enough, something for top level is as needed as any other level, I would be new but you can't just look to the newbie end.

Well I don't think they'll need to prop it up. The game apparently sold in excess of 17 million copies at $50 a pop. So that is getting on for a billion dollars in sales. So it has probably already generated enough income for several patches. I liken it to No Man's Sky. Released too early but many updates later is maybe the best space sim out there. Maybe NW will follow the same path.
