8GB and 128bit bus. You'd have to literally be desperate to consider that card an upgrade regardless of any "larger cache" Nvidia is hyping.
RTX 4060 and RX 7600 are both budget products. For them the 8GB memory with 128 bit bus is reasonable compromise, and if NVidia/AMD had tried to equip them with better memory specs they'd have just increased the price so much the cards would have been worse products.

I think RTX 4060 TI's memory specs are a problem, since NVidia equipped it with too weak memory compared to rest of the GPU. Whereas RTX 4060 and RX 7600 are just compromises that needed to be made.

Unfortunately the GPU market has gotten so expensive that to be anywhere near the leading edge, nevermind the bleeding edge, of performance you're going to shell out 4 figures. Nvidia doesn't seem to be backing off that trend either. Now it's a question of which series will cross the $2k mark for a card. It might be the 5 series. The 6 for sure will cross it. At what point does the market revolt and simply stop buying the products because they've exceeded the affordability mark for what is, after all, just an entertainment platform? The only plus side to all this is that so few gamers are willing to drop that kind of cash on a card that developers can't really build games that require it. They can build games that use it if it's available but not require it or their game won't sell enough units to offset today's huge development costs. Case in point I just finished Starfield on my now aging 2080ti, and it played just fine. I totally skipped the 3-series. I'm for sure skipping the 4-series. I'll have to see what the 5-series brings. Crypto used to be driving this market, but now that crypto has cooled, can Nvidia afford to have customers that only upgrade once every 3-4 series of cards because they're so absurdly priced? I guess we'll see.

    More like 4060 is cheap.

For what it costs, it offers decent package. If you want to play with all settings maxed out, this is not the GPU for you. But if you're a more casual gamer and are happy playing 1080p and 60 fps, and don't mind toning down graphic settings as needed, then this GPU will likely do for you for the next 4 years.

Not everyone wants to spend the money to run stuff on max settings. There are plenty of people out there who are content as long as they can get mediocre performance. RTX 4060 is for those people.

The Gigabyte RTX 4060 Gaming OC is a mid-range graphics card that is based on Nvidia's new AD107 GPU. It features 3072 CUDA cores, 12 texture processing clusters, and 24 streaming multiprocessors. The card also has 8GB of GDDR6 memory on a 128-bit bus.

The Gigabyte RTX 4060 Gaming OC uses a triple-fan cooling solution that consists of two 90mm fans and one 80mm fan. The card also has a large heatsink with multiple copper heatpipes to help dissipate heat.

In terms of performance, the Gigabyte RTX 4060 Gaming OC is a significant upgrade over the previous generation RTX 3060. It is able to deliver smooth frame rates at 1080p and 1440p in most modern games, even with high settings enabled. The card is also capable of running some games at 4K resolution, although frame rates may vary depending on the game and settings.

Here are some of the pros and cons of the Gigabyte RTX 4060 Gaming OC:

    Pros:

    • Excellent performance for the price
    • Good cooling solution
    • Quiet operation
    • Overclocking potential

    Cons:

    • Relatively high power consumption
    • Can be expensive

Overall, the Gigabyte RTX 4060 Gaming OC is a great graphics card for gamers who are looking for excellent performance without breaking the bank. It is a good choice for gamers who play at 1080p or 1440p resolution, and it is also capable of running some games at 4K resolution.

Who should buy the Gigabyte RTX 4060 Gaming OC?

The Gigabyte RTX 4060 Gaming OC is a good choice for gamers who are looking for a mid-range graphics card with excellent performance. It is a good option for gamers who play at 1080p or 1440p resolution, and it is also capable of running some games at 4K resolution.

The Gigabyte RTX 4060 Gaming OC is also a good choice for gamers who are looking for a quiet graphics card. The card's triple-fan cooling solution is very effective at dissipating heat, and the fans are relatively quiet.

Who should not buy the Gigabyte RTX 4060 Gaming OC?

The Gigabyte RTX 4060 Gaming OC is not a good choice for gamers who are on a tight budget. The card is relatively expensive, and there are cheaper graphics cards available that offer similar performance.

The Gigabyte RTX 4060 Gaming OC is also not a good choice for gamers who are looking for a graphics card with low power consumption. The card consumes a relatively high amount of power, so it is not ideal for gamers who are using laptops or other devices with limited power supplies.

No. 8GB? And it's not even HBM or what have you. This would be wasting 300-350$. Rather splash some 100-200$ more(not like it's going to break your account ; it's not 4090 with its 2000$+ msrp lol) and have a secure future.

I don't think it even has 4 years in it solely, due to the 8gb ram. Games are already being made to take advantage of 12gb+, which means even on 1080p and everything on low you're going to be hitting the 8gb wall soon. If the card had at least 12gb like the 3060, I'd maybe see it as a "better than nothing" upgrade but not with only 8gb.
At the moment only 22% of GPUs on Steam Hardware survey have more than 8 GB of RAM, whereas 30% of GPUs have exactly 8GB.

With all the manufacturers still having 8 GB models in their latest GPU generation, going over 8 GB limit on system requirements will be unattractive to game makers for a long time because they'd lose so much of their potential audience.

There are already games where you can't really use max settings on RTX 4060, and there will be a lot more of them as time passes. But games that won't get optimized so that they work with 8 GB of VRAM when needed will probably be really rare to non-existent until next console generation launches.

That's what you get in this price range.  The AMD competitor to this card, the Radeon RX 7600, also has 8 GB.  You can get an Intel Arc A770 with 16 GB for a similar price tag, but even that often has 8 GB.

I am sorry but anyone trying to make us believe the 4060 is a lesser card cause they cut corners to make it cheaper for poor plebs is seriously delusional.

Nvidia/amd are not going anywhere near broke with the pricing of these cards and its pure BS that it cost them soooooo much to make these they NEED to price em at these prices...

.......instead lets call it for what it is....they got used to the scummy scammer crypto prices and much like gas in canada once it goes up it never really comes back down no matter the price of the damned barrel of oil.

Prices are high cause they want the prices high period, I mean why wouldn't they?  People have proven to them over and over the last couple years they are fully willing and stupid enough to pay $2k+ for a gpu for a system that cost 1k or less without the gpu....and even defend those ludicrous price points cause you know you must be l33t if you paid 2k for your gpu.

At that price get an Intel Arc. Even with immature drivers it's a better card and a better value. 16GB ram, double the bus size and performance on par with a 3060ti - 3070ti.

Better a headache with a driver going through growing pains than a headache with a card that will never deliver anything more than 1080p at medium settings, struggling to hit 60 frames.

I am at a complete loss as to why they went backwards with the RTX 4060 OC card, when the RTX 3060 OC card has 12GB of RAM 192bit and is still widely available.

Why on earth would you want to buy a RTX 4060 OC card with 8GB VRAM 128bit, when you can buy an RTX 3060 OC card with 12GB VRAM 192bit at 100-200 bucks lower price.
