Nexon's The First Descendant Astonishes by Nailing PvE Co-Op Play | MMORPG.com
Nexon's upcoming third-person looter-shooter The First Descendant surprises during the cross-play open beta, but should you get hypes for it's 2024 release?
The biggest problem I have with this sort of game is the reviews never tell you how good the solo is, any game with co-op gets a near co-op only review. So unless a guild goes for one of these I just avoid them as they are too much a shot in the dark.

It might just be because it was busy since it was a short term beta, but I don't think I played solo the entire time. By not playing solo I mean there were other players out there with me helping, not that I had an actual group.
I didn't team with anyone but still played in a group. I didn't get to super high levels though. Some stuff was kind of confusing, like where to go, or how to level up some stuff. It was fun but the game still needs some work.
But it will take years for this to be in the same league as Warframe, and that's if it doesn't die on release like most looter shooters do. Anthem was way better than this even with its launch bugs.
While I agree its fun at first...just wait until you hit the paywall which happens very quick or you can do endless boring grind and when I say boring, it means killing stuff doing missions over and over that puts you to sleep. I am old school mmo grinder from swg to wow to daoc...there is nothing fun about grinding for 14 hrs a day just to get enough upgrade for you damage mod and the next one, probably up to 20 hrs and well you get the point.
And yes, I did beat almost every boss that was in last week's beta except for the last one since not enough time to grind enough money to powerup mods

I really appreciate this perspective because that's what I was afraid of with nexon and their kind of games. Hopefully they fix that before release, but if they don't that's going to suck because it could have been a good game.
The grind was always going to be there. That is how games like D2 & Warframe work too. There was never going to not be a grind to get stuff (unless you want to pay for it)
If you have played Anthem before Descendent is a backtrack. I played the beta for this game and compared that gameplay to Anthem, and Anthem is light years ahead.

The glaring problem with releasing yet another of these games is that they make the existing player ecosystem that starves for this genre only smaller.
The whole open world thing might be the only thing going for it, but even that might not be enough if it's asking Warframe/Destiny players to sink money into it.

I don't know why people keep saying Destiny. Any person who has played Warframe for more than 30 minutes will easily see this game is 100% Warframe clone. That's not necessarily a bad thing, but I promise if you do a side by side comparison of gameplay and advanced of this game vs Warframe it's very obvious what game gave them their inspiration.

When was the last time Nexon put out something good?
Mabinogi Heroes (Vindictus in the West) i'd wager was their last game that made a pretty sizable impact on the south korean game industry.
They are slowly in stages repurposing the game world of Mabinogi Online to be in line with modern standards; but last i read about the project they said it was going to take a long time, years, as they are basically doing what World of Warcraft did and updating the games art assets for modern audiences.
Not sure what they'll do to the actual game systems, but if they do a good job with updating Mabinogi's visuals, it would be well worth revisiting.

Doesn't look like a "zoom zoom" bullet jump parcour game that kills 40 enemies on the screen with one button press to me, but maybe you are playing a different Warframe that I don't know of.

You should, the game is really fun, enjoyed the beta a lot
