It's no secret that buzz around Blizzard has waned in recent years. However, with the first BlizzCon set to happen in person since before the Pandemic, there just might be something that sends a spark through the community once again.

Nothing Blizzard says or does excites me anymore. The "Blizzard magic" is long gone.

Probably this, but at the same time, i can't even imagine being excited for what Blizzard announces at this point; they've proven to me that whatever content they want to make, it isn't tailored to the type of entertainment expectations i now have; my bar is just set way too high.

Speak of expectations to vault over- in blizzard's case, that bar is so low that they could skip over it- but they'd instead trip over the bar, tumble through the wall across the room, and land themselves in the arms of another scandal, or lawsuit, and still somehow manage to make some type of slimy backroom deal with a Chinese developer.

Either a new StarCraft or a game in the Warcraft universe - i wouldn’t mind a new take as i still feel we missed out with the cancellations of StarCraft:Ghost and WarCraft:Adventures

I can't think of anything off hand they could announce that would really get me excited. Blizzard is competing in a very crowded industry now and they feel very out of touch to me.

I'd want to see a WoW Classic+, something that adds new content to the vanilla version of the game, and some quality of life improvements without relying on the add on community to make it all work. I'm not really interested in seeing the next retail expansion.

For Diablo 4, my hopes are very dim here. But perhaps if they announce the first expansion that brings with it many changes to existing class skill trees, more depth and branching customization paths, it might catch my interest again.

This is highly likely honestly. Kotick is for sure gone, so there's no one there to protect anyone else. Every job will be under review and everyone who is redundant or not willing to tow the Microsoft line will be shown the door. Microsoft has plenty of middle and senior managers with decades of experience. The only people they need to keep are the technical SMEs and even that only as long as it takes to document where the bodies are buried. Once they have a run book of how the online games work and how the source code is organized everyone at Blizzard is expendable. Ever had to interview for a job you already have? Blizzard employees are about to find out what that is like.

Nothing but a new mmorpg.  New engine, in starcraft or diablo universe.
  • GorweGorwe Member Posts: 1,609
Nothing tbh. I already have everything I want from them.

That they're going to stop abusing employees and start paying them a decent wage, including the ones in QA. It will be paid for by eliminating bonuses for managers and above.

Nothing. I'm content with Diablo which is all I expected.

WOW going to a buy to play system, where you buy the content you want instead of paying for nothing every month would get me excited enough to start playing again(they would also need to make it so players can play whatever content they want without being overly penalized). Mostly because it would give the developers an incentive to actually create new content on a regular basis instead of milking players for as long as they can. Also they would have to focus on making content of a high enough quality that people would actually want to buy it. Right now it just feels like Blizzard has turned into a lazy drug dealer selling the addicts a fix with little concern for anything else.

I won't say this is the same scale. might be far worse. But remember Bioware, Black Isle.... Hmm Hmm Blizzard. Great games with ehhhh legacies. ATM, I'd want Diablo 4 redone, World of Warcraft 2, and despite my massive shift away from..... strategy and building games, Warcraft (4)/Starcraft anything.
Frankly I'd say they're too concerned with shit like flavor of the month and what can change on a daily/monthly basis, than core gameplay. Play Diablo 1 or 2, the Blizzard intro feels goooooood. Newer games, eh, wheres my stuff, and what's new (mostly cause whats there can't hold its flame after a week...)

Exactly so. But that's due to CEO(etc) interference. And even then, they didn't have any vision, they merely changed their sails to suit the way wind blew. That's NOT how you make legendary games. For that you need proper timing(read: luck) and enough common sense to realize that you are good at "x", fuck "a, b, c and d" ; regardless of their popularity. Blizz, Bioware etc of old simply produced games they were good at, fuck everything else. You can see this today with Larian.

Now? Let's chase random cars ... meh.

This would be awesome, ngl. But idk how it would turn out. Blizz is mostly a multiplayer studio.
