I feel like this type of game is going the path of battle royales and I feel like we are reaching the end of the era. Do people really enjoy yet another game in this genre?

Yeah i don't know, i mean i'm sure there are lots of people who do, but i'm certainly not one of them, but i also feel like i might be a minority at this point in terms of mobile game experiences.
The only enjoyment i've found in mobile games are kind of niche, aside from Pokemon GO, which i only started playing to motivate myself to walk more.
Guitar Girl; which won Googles's GOTY award back in 2020 is also one of the very few i enjoy, but it's also a very niche title that wasn't created to appeal to a mass market or to make money.
In fact i think my favorite mobile games might just be those offline, singleplayer games, or mobile ports of older jrpg's or PC games, like LIMBO. All of which you just pay 5 or 10 bucks up front, and own it forever via your google account for whatever android device.

I get it, but I grow weary of the WoW'verse. Create a new IP Blizzard. You've got the talent.
Have they? I have seen nothing in the past five years that indicates the truth of your statement. What I have seen is a lot of cookie-cutter content and Taco Bell development (form the same five ingredients into different shapes and hope people will go for it).

If this is the case, let me rephrase ' You have the money to buy the talent to make a great new IP'
for 20$ you buy perma 20% exp boost and 50% gold boost plus tons of other things if you want to buy.
Pay to progress and pay to win 10000%
You should probably learn a little bit about how the game works before you offer up your opinions about it. XP will not help you win in PVP at all. Your units are level capped based on your ranking, so everyone starts with an entire team of level 1 guys, and the only way to increase that is by winning, not by buying experience. Experience points affect PvE ONLY.
As for "pay to progress," there's nothing wrong with that. The unboosted experience you get without paying is basically the demo version of the game, which you can play to see if you enjoy it. If you do enjoy it, you owe it to the developers to pay the 20 bucks for the boost. Don't want to? Fine, but don't complain, because you are just a freeloader, not a customer.
