Albion Online is making a major change to their update cycle in an effort to change up the pace of their current update schedule. In 2024, the sandbox MMO will start to push out smaller, seasonal updates to players, staring in January.

    Not really surprising. Seasonss seem to be the way of the world these days. I like this trend and think it'll benefit MMOs in general. It's something that people will look forward to and may help retention for those who like to collect new cosmetics and such.

    ITs fomo driven marketing "Hey buy this season pass its only here for 3 months if you dont you cant have the shinies" and "Now you bought it you have a sunk cost".

    I would ONLY support season pass type models if they are handled similar to how Halo infinite does them, for all its flaws the ability to pick up and play any season pass when ever you want is a great improvement over the shitty standard model.
