A vigor system with a way to pay to get around it is text book p2w. You don't have to sell gear to be pay to win.

Vigor systems are not good for anyone but the devs. It is a way to make money by selling potions or other items to get around it.

yup, that's exactly what mobile games do. Mobile games will also sell you the materials that you'd essentially be using the 'stamina' for as well, but say its just 'convenience' since you a way of earning them through gameplay (while also leaving out the part that you can only earn so many per event).

If a game is terrible, then you effectively lose by playing it, even if you pay, so that's not pay to win.

I guess it all depends on what you mean by "win"

Them: We won't have any P2W!

Players: Hey, there is a bunch of P2W stuff in here.

Them: Ohhh, we see by your feedback that items that influence the game or enhance characters might be considered P2W by some, so we'll try and avoid doing that as much as we can.

    Them: Is selling gold P2W?

This game is from China right? They are so used there to everything being P2W that anything that isnt ludicrous they already have interiorized as part of the "genre".

Getting used to abusive relations comes as a shock when someone healthier (not healthy) points it out.

Sad state of gaming (and the world as a whole).

"From China" has become meaningless when Western companies copy every dodgy practice they can. Indeed it has become akin to a form of international trade (!) which goes in both directions; namely, what dodgy revenue methods can every company around the world import from elsewhere.

I'm a PC gamer, and I tried this mobile port. Initially, it feels like WoW but the spell is broken soon after. Way to many cutscenes to feel like you're in the game. Combat is sticky so you cuss a lot. You portal out of town to any unlocked location, so you lose the immersion. I was given a quest to craft any item, spent an hour trying to find one of the components and game up. Went back into the world to fight and instantly got bored out of my mind due to the mobile game vibe. Like Sarla above stated - it feels like a game an 8 year old would play. On the flip side, this is the best mobile I've tried so far. If you are stuck on a tablet or phone it might be worth some time. This is the first Asian game I've played in a long time were every sword swing does not completely cover the opponent with seizure inducing animations, but that may be due to it being pure Chinese in that they copied everything they could from Western games with no innovation.

Modern P2W = Anything I want but don't want to spend money on.

I miss when P2W meant being able to use my credit card to kick the ever living shit out of someone who was massively better skilled then me

This watered down bullshit clown meaning for P2W is insulting

As globalization increases, I feel like corporations share and adopt practices to compete with each other so we see them all eventually use similar tactics for given region.

One thing that galls me, cash shop "innovation" some good, mostly bad, moves at light speed around the world. Innovative gameplay in MMOs moves at a snails pace if at all, I can remember many systems which have disappeared or not been seen again for a decade.

Dayum, they just straight up lied claiming to be not P2W. Just one more shit game I am glad I have no interest in.

Hmm, you can pay real money to buy in game gold. Then use the gold to buy stuff.

    Totally not pay to win.

    Sigh.
