It's a cool ship, but you gotta admit that AI meme is funny.

I think the Free Flys are a good play by SC.  A net positive, regardless of the condition of the game/servers.  And new ships, probably always a bit better than the previous ones?  Well, they have to keep the capital flowing in, since they've pretty much spent all those 100s of millions already.  Sunk cost.

But they're always throwing the kitchen sink in.  And then changing the water dynamics, so they need a new sink.  That new sink has to be shinier though....

"But (Bit Reactor's CEO Greg) Foertsch says he keeps both himself and his rest of his team on track by making sure "everybody knows what the [game's] pillars are, and if [they're] going to suggest something for the game, know that if it violates those things, it's probably not going to happen unless it's such a good idea that we want to rewrite them." And these rules apply to him - "I can't deviate from them, I can't just chase wild things" - as much as they do to everyone else at the studio. "That keeps us true," he says, and "by having those [pillars] established, I think it really keeps us from being dragged off the path and chasing butterflies that may or may not pan out. Because you can just look and be like, 'Well, does it satisfy these things, yes or no?'""

If you are holding out for the perfect game, the only game you play will be the waiting one.

I agree it's funny cause that's exactly how I envision Chris Roberts and CIG finances going after Squadron 42 releases. :D

Now, and since they've clearly shown they've been investing all the money into their games and not stacking them in a mattress  it doesn't make much sense lol.

Besides, It's in a post about them not charging any money and letting us fly all those ships that costed millions to develop for free.

But, for me, as memes go, this one is still King.

You can get a starter package for less. Everything can be then bought with in game credits, no more cash needed... But saying it is not drama enough :)

It costs $40 for the game and you get a free starter ship with it sure you can support the project by buying ships or you can just buy the game which is less than most Indie games these days and grind for the ships in game just like any other MMO.

The free community play days is probably the best PR move they could make.
    Kudos.

Clearly, my long term support - and constant praising of this title on the forums - is beginning to be validated.

It is and it's also why I have no sympathy for people who buy in NOW and complain.  They literally do these free trials every few months so folks can check it out before buying.

Where exactly did they show that they invested all $600M into the game? I mean, as far as I know, not only is Roberts paying himself a salary but he is also paying himself and others though "dividends".

That, at face value would indicate that "all" the money is NOT going into their games but in fact they are pulling out money in some amount. Whether Chris puts it in his mattress or his bank account is unknown at this point.

If they just put the 600 million in the bank with interest alone they should be able to afford development.

Everytime I see SC mentioned I always laugh to myself. This will either be the biggest scam in gaming history or the biggest flop. Either way it's DOA for most people myself included. By the time this is full release no more wipes the tryhards will be bored and gone with the rest of us forgetting this was ever a game. Lack of vr support, lack of bug fixes almost 10 years later people are still falling through the game world, lack of proper hotas support the list goes on and on and on just like the development of this game.

More of a boondoggle than a scam.

Nearly 30 years since his last released games, but hey, someone there is a marketing champ.

I keep trying to like SC I have been trying to play with a friend for a few days now. Game has a good base but my God the amount of bugs and issues is unreal. We spend more time trying to even just drink water than playing. We spent hours trying to gear up, get the ships to work, load the map properly I mean wtf. Legit played 6 hours last night and got maybe 2 hours of actual game play. The rest of the time was spent relogging or trying to get the water to stay in our hand so we could drink. Kinda ridiculous for a game to have been in development this long and still run like it's alpha phase one. And let's not forget my favorite falling through the game world at random.....
