Bad news... I really think they had some momentum going again.

If they're competent, then it should be a simple enough matter to roll back to shortly before the breach. Maybe you lose an hour or a day of progress, but it should be fixable by a straightforward rollback. If they don't have any such backups in place, then now they know why they need them.

There is a special place in hell for hackers. Especially for ones who attack the little guy. Somewhere, there is a little goblin giggling at the pain he's caused.

Honestly, the game is in a pretty good state. This is coming from someone who backed it, tried it a few times and I thought it was awful. Population has been pretty good and there has been quite a bit of PvP activity. Almost all of the player city spots are taken up.

Hope they land back on their feet and get the game going again. It is as close to an Ultima Online experience as I've seen in the MMO world.

Wow this sounds like some of the old MMO hacking hi-jinks from back in the day....they really did a good job replicating the past lol.

It sounds like they have the necessary backups, but it will still take some time to restore it.  That's understandable, especially in early access.  If they can't restore things to how they were shortly before the hack, that will be far less understandable.

Credibility just went to zero. Something like this doesn't just "happen" in 2023. So either they are rookies and f-ed up or didn't care to secure the backend they claim this came from. To have such a massive security flaw like this is going to hurt them. I for one have lost trust with them....again....

Could also be an angry dev, like I said I've seen these types of things before back in the early 2000s lol.

Things like this happen all of the time in 2023, to much bigger and more savvy companies than this one.

A few months back they admitted that they are broke and all their employees have been working for free for quite a while.

Maybe one of them had enough of the zero paydays?

Breeches happen to AAA developers. How much more are indie guys at risk. They are low hanging fruit for 2nd tier hackers I think. I am willing to be that a lot of these guys are disgruntled little goblins who lost some loot, or a war, or some sort of other equally irrelevant thing.

There has to be a reason they were singled out, you are likely spot on.

    The developers, yes.

The hackers? Should be a capital crime.

It's evil to attack indie games.

Tbh, this game isn't too bad. It suffers from boring combat - boring travel and pretty basic citybuilding.

But, the foundation is there - the combat, with better animations, better pacing - could be quite fun. Travelling is something they can tweak - citybuilding is something that will evolve.

All in all not a bad indie game - shame people can't help being a-holes on the net.
