Oh right it is "launching" into early access, thought it was too soon for release. Still I liked the look of the videos, better than some ea I have seen.

Well the visuals definitely look Indy, and I don't mean that as a compliment. Hopefully the gameplay makes up for the amateur hour art work and animation. That being said I recently picked up Titan Quest on sale on steam to relive some nostalgia and found the game still holds up in spite of its 2006 visuals, so I'm not writing this game off just based on the visuals. I wish them the best because I know it's a pile of work driven by a lot of love for the superhero MMO genre.

Watching the video I was thinking so the enhancements will be like IO's without the cheaper standard ones and no enhancement diversification diminishing returns is just going to give you the enhancement stacking problem CoH had before they implemented that.

    What's next enhancement sets?

I don't see any reason for anyone to play this game when you can play City of Heroes: Homecoming for free. This is going to bomb hard.

It looks like a cheap knock off of City of Heroes.

Yeah, it certainly doesn't look amazing but I think it's good that they're focusing on other aspects, I wouldn't call it a cheap knock-off until we see the final product.

That said, you're certainly right about bombing if they don't add more of their own spin. I've seen bad Chinese knock-offs that had more effort put into them compared to that augment system. I get that they're drawing inspiration but did it have to be the same?

Project Gorgon looks like ass but they stand out because nowhere else can I raid a crypt with a party that consists of an armored cow, a rabbit that can throw chi blasts and a very confused lion-person who changes into a werewolf for 3 days a month.

This is like saying after BDO came out any MMO with lesser graphics should not be considered. Graphics alone don't make a great game.

The only thing I find that looks better are the character models. Everything else looks worse than CoH. The textures, animations, powers, icons, UI, customization, sounds, literally everything else. Even the concept is stupid. Ship of Heroes... what they brought all the villains with them when they left Earth and made a giant space ship for them to fight in? It's something where a 5 year old with some crayons could come up with a better idea.

Both Ship of Heroes and City of Titans have been in development for years and I would love a new super hero game better than CoH but they both look really lackluster to be nice. None of the videos I have seen from either of these games has me the least bit excited.

I'm certainly willing to pay for a new game but I'm by no means going to pay for something worse than what I can already get for free.

I wish both of these super hero games good luck though. They are really going to need it.

We don't have to buy until the game releases so I never see gamers problems with games in development. It will either be worth your time when it launches or it won't, simple as that.

    Sure, but immersion is important.

World of Warcraft was ridiculed for cartoony graphics, yet it turned into one of the most successful MMO's of all time.

The primary reason for this is that Blizzard nailed the immersion aspect. The characters looked cartoony, but the overall aesthetic of the world, the different zones was amazing. It breathed life, atmosphere on top of great atmospheric music. Topping it off with some hilarious/humorous animations. Not to mention LEEEEEROY! :P

You got immersed into the world of WoW.

This game has nothing of that. The poor graphics could have been compensated with some competent world design, but even that skill is completely absent with these devs sadly. Everything feels like being bought straight out of the assets store.

The game world looks boring, bland and sterile. Not something to get immersed in. Top it off with bad character and animation design and this game is just DOA.

It simply doesn't stand a chance against all the current private CoH server communities out there. With some of them even having active devs creating new content and updates for the game.

Well this article from back in March said they were on track to launch in 2023...

Come on, every CF is years behind schedule, unless you are putting money in before launch which I advise against, just sit back and wait for the reviews.

Why are posters so keen to make a decision on a game before it launches? When you were a kid did you check up on mum's cooking so you could say "Yep it looks great!", wait until it is put on the table. :D

Sure, I comment on what they release before launch, but I do that realizing that we may have a different game by launch. You may say "well how much can they change it", the fact CF gets so often delayed means we could be looking at another five years here.

I played in the first few beta tests and enjoyed the game a lot. It has a similar feel to City of Heroes, but the graphics are a lot better. CoH is 20 years old after all. CoH's character and powers animations are still pretty good. Take a close look at the inside of a cave however, and it looks like a game from the 90's, which it basically is.

City of heroes has hit its high water mark I think, they aren't coming out with new areas and new graphics. Ship of heroes has a chance to surpass that high water mark, although since they are just starting out, they are below that now.
