One of the best announcements at BlizzCon is going live this Thursday, the Season of Discovery for World of Warcraft Classic. Jumping off from the success of Hardcore Classic, the Season of Discovery offers new ways to play Classic and new things to discover. So let's jump into the big highlights of what we can look forward to on November 30th at 1 pm PST.

I love that they are adding new content to the old world without making changes to the fundamental structure of the game. (I have no interest in WotLK with its game-ruining Dungeon Finder, or Cataclysm, which changed the actual shape of the world.)
Spicing up the classes with runes is totally fine with me. Different sets of runes for future seasons would be a great way to keep things fresh! And if that's too much for you, you can just stay on your old server and not participate in seasons, so I'm not sure why anyone could consider it a problem.
More of this, please!
This is this new type of Season content they are trying out which is just a tacked on idea taken from Diablo ladder seasons; you play on these seasonal realms, and once the season is over you have the option to transfer that character over to the main Classic Era realms; and then they start anew on another Season idea.
People are going to catch on and it won't take much time for players to call out Blizzards laziness and desperation to hold onto players disguised as: "taking risks"
None of this is taking a risk; i don't think Blizzard devs know what taking risks are anymore.
You know what a risk would look like for Blizzard? Making a brand new next-gen mmorpg that not entirely replaces WoW, but could help shepherd their userbase into a more modern era of mmorpg gaming; THAT is a risk, a risk that was once a opportunity they fucking squandered for sales figures back when they could have.

Huh? Did you read the article? They will go up in level increments over time all the way to level 60. These are just a new kind of progression server and frankly, for me with limited time, I like it.
The rune system also seems like a nice new twist on the classic game. Will be interesting to see how that turns out.
