haha damn they really punish people for being Carebears or just wanting to play with their friends. It's like "here's some pve maps" begrudgingly.... "and we aren't adding any fun for you guys outside pvp either" lmao.
Its like the game devs are allergic to money. What happened to companies only caring about money.
Some Devs just stick to their designs, for "reasons."
CCP has long resisted the call for a PVE only universe or at least making high sec truly safe.
Heck, over the years they've often doubled down on designs to "encourage" more emergent game play, which in opinion at least wasn't very successful since the lost all six of my annual subs many years ago.

It's because some of the devs are most likely the toxic FPS Doug type. You know the ones that scream all caps obscenities even after they gank someone like they are suffering from a heroin induced tourettes like outburst?
It's funny because those are the ones that ruin the games for even normal pvp/pve players and then scream about how everyone else is a Carebear and ruined the game by not playing it now how they think it should be played; meaning be canon fodder for them. I just can't with them. I like PvE and PvP but I think some people are just hella poor-sports whether they win of lose.
Again, screw this game. One of, if not the best platforms. Started off as big promises. Ended up being the most bland gameplay loop ever. Getting mad just thinking about it. It's like you have these insanely talented designers paired with some goof balls who can't come up with decent systems and mechanics.
The last two responses seem to cover it pretty well. The devs insist that players conform to their philosophy or leave. That CAN work if they get it right but this game seems like a bunch of missed opportunities to make a truly genre defining game with mass popularity.
Got excited for a second and thought maybe I'd check it out now. I don't know enough about the mechanics of the things PvE players would be missing out on. Just how much "unavailable conentent" will there be, or is it only The Reaper’s Bones Trading Company or Athena’s Fortune? And what are those two things, and how big of a deal is it that PvE players miss out on it?
Also, 30% reduction seems a bit like a slap in the face as others have commented.
Also also, when will the term "Carebear" be shunned by the gaming community? It's not enough to just say "PvE players"? Or is there a commonly used phrase to refer to the opposite of "Carebear" players? I don't often see people saying "Psychopaths" or "Sociopaths" in place of "PvP players". Maybe I've put too much thought into this.. lol.

The opposite tends to be tryhards, or hairy sweaty men Haven't heard the term since Darkfall Unholy Wars.

How about psychobears. I am not even going to bother since they did not bother to make the PvE carebears like me welcome. Throw us crumbs ah, ah I ain't no pigeon.
It's blunders and missteps like this from Microsoft that keep them in second and third place with other platforms.
Meanwhile, Epic launched a multiplayer lobby mode to their popular Fortnite game just for PvE coop. The initial reaction seems to be positive. That's how you make money and build a platform.
I buyed this game few years ago and tried: it has such beautiful graphics and the water colour was gorgeous. I noticed that i can do fishing and cooking and thought to myself: this is the game i will stick to for a few years.
After a few hours of gameplay i received some quests to unlock some misteries and lore. I thought that this game is too good to be true. I started my journey to the 1st quest and got killed by a player while trying to resolve the mistery. No problem except that i need half of hour to reach the place where i need to solve the mistery. I reach the place again after 30-60 mins and got killed while resolving a puzzle, probably by the same person. I remember him laughing on his microphone.
I uninstalled the Sea of Thieves and moved to the next game.

I am sure the person that killed you had fun. This is why it boggles my mind why these types of games try to mix and encourage players with different interest and goals to play together, One of them always loses. How is this fun for the person trying to do the quest or objective? Well thank heavens these games never tempt me.

So these Devs are apparently allergic to making money if they think this is a good design for their game.

Lets not forget the cheaters running game mods with throwaway accounts in PvP and devs ignoring the many complaints. It's not fun for normal players, much less the pve crowd. I assume the poster above complaining about carebears is one of those toxic players and he's just complaining about anyone not willing to run mods and hacks to annoy others with. Instead of addressing the issue they just add safer seas with limited rewards and delete any discussion of the issues. It's like GTA online, good luck having fun online with others unless you are willing to cheat.
