Slow news week. Every single TGA show has some minor issues. They have all been about the announcements / new games from the start. The rewards are a small part. They have always been a small part. Anyone complaining about it at this point is just making clickbait headlines. The show had record viewership. It is a bigger show then any awards show from Hollywood. Last year they complained about Christopher Judge getting too long to speak; this year they complain about devs not getting enough time to speak. They are also acting like the "please wrap it up" sign was there only for the BG3 award when it was there for anyone whose acceptance speech lasted longer then a set amount of time. If you don't want to watch a whole bunch of game trailers; don't. Oh wait, you will.
I do think considering how long winded the show is they should give the devs some more time, it is not Gaming Celebrity Of The Year Awards. But I don't see why that shortness of time should be conflated with concern about industry layoffs.
Are we sure it's not just to prevent the "Bill Clinton" kid from being able to make it to the stage in time? :P
To find an intelligent person in a PUG is not that rare, but to find a PUG made up of "all" intelligent people is one of the rarest phenomenons in the known universe.
"please wrap it up, we got commercials to show and money to make."
The thing i really have started to dislike about TGA over the years is that it's slowly morphed into more of a games presentations expo than an actual awards show.
We get all of these Directs and Games expos throughout the year and we can't spend 'ONE NIGHT' out of the whole year to allot 2-3 hours dedicated solely to the development and creation of video games and to celebrate that.

Just being about the great developers that made great games dosnt make the people putting the show on as much money as selling air time to game studios about games we havnt played yet and may not be any good does, capitolism...

Classy.
You're right, I need to save that in my meme folder for future use.
