The last open world survival game that i played and enjoyed was darkfall.. what year are we in?!
Did DF have a lot of survival elements though, not as much as the ones these days I don't think?
Is this a survival game? Gameplay looks a bit slow and combat seems clunky which are usually signs of a survival game. It might be worth a try if it's free.

No its not I was just being factious, to me "survival" has become a byword for no content.

I thought that's what "sandbox" means. I don't have a problem with either except they also both usually mean no real character progression and shallow loot pools.

Sandbox means crafting and non linear play, Survival means repetitive tasks that stop you from crafting, exploring or doing to much of anything else. Which in turn means you don't realise how little content there is. Or at least that is how Survival is so often used, not saying it has to be done that way.

Really? The Fallout games have no content? 7 days to Die has no content? Ive spent over 2000 hours in that...Not bad for a game with no content.... Gamers now are too hung up on labels....Thats why these game companies throw a hundred of them at people, hoping one of the labels sticks with someone and they pay for their game.....Just look at Steam....All of their games have several tags on them.

What is survival? If we are talking crafting to upgrade a settlement or your weapons I am there. If we are talking eating, drinking, worrying about exposure, oxygen levels, depth pressure, etc I am not, that kind of survival just keeps you from doing all the good parts of the game.
Does what I don't like appeal to many people? Yes, as it should do, we are not all made from the same mould.
OMG I am so dumb sometimes, I requested access to this test and then found out its first person view, which makes me car sick.
Me too cannot abide by first person. Written off all games except turn based that are first person view. I get quite sick after ten minutes.
Just as a small clarification, you can switch to 3rd person view when moving around but when you enter combat, it does unfortunately force you into 1st person.

And they didn't stick "Survival" on the tin, missed a trick there.
