Included month is up ...

And I'm done.  I'm not renewing for additional time.  First two weeks were a blast, I will say that.  Third week I logged in for shorter periods of time each day, and I don't think I logged in at all during the fourth week.

Besides the obvious complaints about the grind or not finding reasons to group, I just can't shake the feeling that I'm playing a single-player game.  Basically a single-player game that besides paying 50 bucks to purchase, I must also pay 15 a month so I can keep playing it (by myself).  I've never felt that before about any of the mmorpgs I've played.  I look on my shelf and see many single-player games that I've gotten much more enjoyment out of than AA, several of them with far more involved stories/quests/goals/etc. And all without the added burden of paying a monthly fee to keep playing them when I feel like.

Given that I let my everquest 2  subscription also run to nil last month, I find myself mmorpg-less for the first time in years.  I've gained a new understanding of gaming addicts, I can tell you that heh, as for the first few days I just about started to climb the walls with boredom.  The older entertainment of television watching is dull once you've started playing mmorpgs, the combined interactivity and social aspects of gaming beats the mindless passivity of the idiot box.  So much so that I cancelled satellite a year ago; those electriciity-junkies such as I -  imagine for a moment having neither tv nor gaming.  I'm gonna see how long I can make it, just as an experiment in self-knowledge, before I go running back to eq2, CoX, or whatever.

Anyways, that's my 2 cents.  If you are enjoying it, I won't try to convince you against it, everyone's fun is subjective.  Whatever you're playing, have fun everyone.

    Its all good my friend,

Maybe one day you will be back, till then, have a blast on whatever mmorpg you go to. I am going to stick it out on this game. I just need to give the fantasy games a break before I burn totally out of that scenario.

I finally hitting some pvp in this game and enjoying it and doing the eve online part-time as my skills increase.

It's a really good game, just not finnished. It's a shame the patch is looking more like an expansion. It shoudl fix a lot of the bugs and add some new things to the game but over all it is a little too late and not enough.

Hopefully this patch goes well with few new bugs created and they can quickly move on to the next patch. I think waiting until the fall is a bad idea, they need to get something out once a month for a little bit first, even if it is just some additional missions, maybe some character models and sounds. Even fluff is noticable. it is simple to do, almost never creates a bug, and people will notice it. If done right it can make a real difference in the game for somepeople without being anything major.

I say give it a break until after the patch, watch the community boards for player feedback on it and make your decision from there. Tune in to Twisted Radio or enter into our Game Time Card lottery and you could win free play time anyway.

    Keep moving.

Trying it again later is always possible for me, that's true.  Theoretically true for all the games I've purchased over the years, since I still have them all.  The only other game I played just for the included month was WoW, I could never get used to the cartoony look of the game after having played EQ2.  I didn't play AO for long, though that was through no fault of the game, I quite liked it; it's simply that SWG was launch soon after I had started AO and I quickly became obsessed with SWG to the exclusion of all other games at that time.

I will watch for developments in AA, and perhaps get a time card if anything of interest comes up.  I did that with CoH after CoV was released, I had alot of fun with those games.  But for the time being I'm gonna pass on paying a monthiy fee for a game that is underwhelming, even compared to many single-player games I have, like I mentioned in the original post.

I'm actually growing a little desperate at the moment, with no game to play.  Over the years of online gaming I never fully realized just how many other activities and hobbies fell by the wayside to make more room in my day for gaming; I suppose that happens to many of us. CoV I quit recently as my main villain was level 40 and I felt there was nothing new to try until Issue 7 finally gets pushed live; my other toons were not novel enough to continue the game for me.  And I don't even have an explaination for while I let EQ2 run out, something about it has been irking me lately, I cant' even put it into words exacatly, if that makes any sense.

I'm trying to resist buying yet another new game, at this point I have too many already.  Shouldn't I find one among them to play?  When you have this many and none of them interest you, I'm thinking maybe the problem isn't with the games exactly, perhaps it's with me. Am I just played out, I wonder.  Played too much, maybe?

Very possible, I personally take an occasional break from mmos and play things that are free, such as Gunbound, Counterstrike, BF2, etc. Right now my only MMO is AA, since i am taking a break from DDO for now.

I had the exact same experience.  2 weeks of blast, 1 week of playing since it is on the pc, then not at all on the 4th week.  I chased AC2 almost to the end and I can't see paying for a game in search of a destiny.

I've had a very similar experience with AA. The first time I joined a convoy was when I was level 54. The game just feels hollow. It's a nice change, especially in the beginning, but gets terribly mundane very fast. Great concept and a good stress outlet, but in it's current state it doesn't seem finished and honestly doesn't even seem to be an mmo.

would have to agree with everyone else, fun game, but almost no community, The game needs to assist and reward people better when they group. Because, if more people played i mighta stayed past the 2nd week. Otherwise, like others said, its just a single player game.

You know I started out in MMO the same way except I played Ultima Underworld in about 91 which was the first truley imersive (single player game) and thought very cool game then got into FPS which I played all night and weekends, until 97 when my mates untroduced me to UO they said "its like the Underworld you thought was so great". which lasted a few years till they stole my keys, house ect ect, then everquest, then SWG which hooked me to the point I had three accounts one account had two characters, I can hounestly say I had no life, I was in SWGcrafters forums and looking for stuff to mine and making crap in factories and going into dungeons and looting geno's ect for my crafter's, and I was lucky they brought out the CU and then my addiction was broken.

We are very fortunate at present as all the games have the depth of a penny and are all gloss, minimal substance trinket collection kindergardens, WoW, COH, DAoC are all pretty much the same boring repetative brainless grind fests, and from your report on this game it looks like the same for this one too.

In order to get over the loss of SWG's my daughter bought me a Nitro Car my Wife bought me my first Nitro RC plane ( I now have 12 most of them I built from plan) and my Mate bought me a 40G Fish tank and my son made me play Guild Wars wiht him to fill the void, and my daughter bought me Oblivion a month or so.

All there effort have paid off and I now get out the house more often, and have very little spare cash anymore.

I hate the damn idiot box, it annoys me, Reality TV and Soaps, What the fuck is reality about reality TV, a reality of stupid attention seeking wankers is not reality.

I was hoping like many people that DnL would be the answer but it looks more and more like a scam every day from what I read on the forums, so in a way we are lucky these new games are all crap, we get to re learn how to get a life and socialise in RL untill a real game comes out again :-)

Obviously this is just a personal opinion and there is no need to flame.
