Is that such a bad thing though? I mean, sure it would be nice if every game had its own unique assets, but that is a cost that many indie devs could better use on actually creating an engaging game. At least that's how I see it.

Indies trying to develop MMOs is always a potato story, they are expensive, long and tricky to make, they require a large amount of content to keep players long-term and they pretty much, always fall short of that.

Quinfal is visibly taking a bitter bite that it likely can't chew, using store assets to get visuals in early is not a big issue, what matters most is the programming quality of the game to make it all work together, and the game mechanics being there to back it up.

For me, it doesn't really matter unless it actually stands out as a glaring issue in the game. I see nothing wrong with a developer licensing art assets or music for their game. It can potentially undermine the individual or unique character and selling point of a game, but someone pointing out that developers used those assets isn't that big of a deal to me.

Asset sources aside, I think this game might have several other issues as well, like several other small and indie studios trying to run a GAAS style game and the potential server longevity (or lack of).

No news from Fractured Online and Embers Adrift or Astedius Online? Sad. I hope Quinfall will success.

Both of those titles are failing badly. Fractured is all but dead and embers adrift has been in trouble since the word go.

There's really no reason to have your first game as an Indy studio be an MMO. If you can't be successful at a single player game there's no logical reason you will be successful with an MMO. Build a single player game in your universe and show the world your ideas have legs. Then armed with that success it would be much easier to bring in investors and developers that want to see your vision get across the finish line.

Without that you're just another nobody working on a soon to be failure that the whole industry gives side eye.

If this is what games with bought assets look like, I wish ESO would have bought their assets.

I checked with the Magic 8 Ball, and the answer was clearly

Same answer came up matter how many times I asked.

    Failure is quite certain.

So far I have not heard of them doing any public funding. So not sure why it’s a Scam yet? These guys had a different name and they did have a functioning MMORPG in beta, in Turkey. Which they didn’t release but the public was playing, they ended up using that as a proof of concept to get funding for this game.

Might be a lot of store assets, but some of the spell effects from Kyron online (based off Turkish mythology) in this game. Like the one spell were the archer fires and other ghosts archer appeared. I’m not saying it’s any good or ever will be. I’m only stating this because it’s true. That game was in beta after 2 years of development.

As the local Fractured Online fanboi, I'll respectfully disagree.

The developers are very active in discord and they're working with several guilds to test the end game content update due this month. They've made several adjustments in direction based on player feedback. They also showed off a new mount and are discussing new PvE and PvP events.

Yes, the population is down and it will always be a niche product; however, it is the only game I've found that has held my attention for more than 15 minutes.
