Downloaded it on Gamepass for a giggle. Pokemon rip-off WITH GUNS? This was gonna be a joke (And I'm really bored...).
I was not expecting this, though. It was actually fun? Sure it's a rip-off with a weird combination of gameplay elements but after quitting out, feeling satisfied with my progress, it had been 8 hours. I can't remember the last time that happened. The Pals have enough different about them that I want to collect them all. Combat is alright, but with the added elements of the Pals being present it's more interesting. Base management is what you'd expect, but the Pals make it more interesting. The world is huge, but with Pals roaming around it doesn't feel empty. Exploration feels worthwhile with finding Boss battles and dungeons and not just because you gotta collect 50-million tiny collectibles because you're a perfectionist.
Just the inclusion of the Pals to all the tried-and-true game elements have seemingly made them fun and interesting to me again. On top of that, it runs smooth. Not something I've encountered in an EA in a while.
Legitimately, if you've got the Gamepass or can justify getting it with more than just Palworld, give it a bash. It really surprised me.
Yay.... another Early Access game. Wake me up in 10 years, maybe one of them will have got finished? I have stopped buying EA games, though I own a few good ones; I have learned my lesson. I am tired of having to pay to beta test software, when it should be the other way around, like it used to be. Also I am tired of these indie companies making a trash game and abusing the EA status. Almost every new game that I have seen released, is in EA status. They will stop dong this when you stop buying them. There has to be a better way to get funded.

Either we score games... or we don't. At least that's my take. We shouldn't score some and not others.
But I still support the EA Review concepts.
Update: See below. Score On the way! Nevermind!
