The people who agreed and anyone else who does not like survival I guess. Maybe you can tell us what is so great about that sort of gameplay? As I have gone on in other threads recently about why it is repetitive and cheapskate not bothering to go into that all again here.

Is it though? What makes it more fun or different from all those who came before it? Most importantly, does it have zombies? If not, count me out. ;)

Maybe you can tell us what isn’t great about that gameplay?

Regular ol’ theme park MMORPG’s are as repetitive as you can get. And they have been built to be on rails.

At least with survival games you are doing things that matter.

Gameplay is about what happens when you try to survive. And for those who prefer multiplayer it’s perfect for cooperation as well as pvp.

Or,I suppose you can click through some text run to the glowing area on the map to do bare minimum and get “rewarded  ;)

This is one of the times that I align with the masses.  These types of games appeal to me.  I have a smallish (fluctuates from 5 to 15) group of folks that I have gamed with since  DAoC launched.  We love getting a server for these kinds of games and going through the process of learning it.  How do you build stuff, where are resources, exploration. Small scale (less than 50) multiplayer is just a lot of fun for us.  No, these arent games that I will play for 6 months straight, but when done right they give us maybe 2 months of fun.

Getting the gang all online and in Discord to dig into a game and work together is just awesome.

As a matter of fact this is kind of Nirvana for us right now as Enshrouded launches today and then Nightingale next month.  Even Kingdom of Atham had a huge "release" update recently so that's on our calendar at some point. Some of these game (like that last one) really are like small scale MMORPGs in that they have the ability to level up and build a character, complete quests...  The next few months are looking good for my gaming

Can I suggest that "fun with friends" is another sign of there being little content? Anyway I only find survival cheapskate, which is quite separate from sandbox elements.

Of course your can suggest :)
But at the end of the day I guess it's about expectations.  If I get 2 months worth of content out of the game For $30 thats a bargain.  Just looking forward to login each night and have something to do with the team is a win IMHO.

I see this like PvP.  If you don't like it... you don't like it.  Not right or wrong and no amount of convincing is going to change.  Similarly, you aren't going to convince a PvPer that they do not like it.

For me, the next few months are going to potentially be some of the best for my gaming that I have seen in years.

Tried to try it. Downloaded, logged in, created a Char. Then had no idea on what shard to connect into and why. Shut down. Probably will play enshrouded until the English interface is in place ok this one.

Yep Same. Of course it's a closed test but half of it isn't translated and had no idea what was going on. Plus those that were translated half of it didnt make sense and the other half the text was running off the screen etc. Def a wait and see

Well sure, each to their own. It does seem though that you are factoring in that you won't enjoy a survival game for long but that's OK as long as the price tag is not too steep? Or is 2 months content all you expect to get out of a multiplayer these days?

It is a question for us all, I am not saying that I know a multiplayer without survival will last longer but it is more likely too. The question is how long do we expect a game to last, for me it has to have the potential at least to last more than two months.

I did smile when you talked about having to find something to do with the team, that is a driving force that means you have to find a game. Been there, try to avoid it these days but sometimes get sucked in.

Having a look at my Agrees and WTF's we are quite divided on this, I think comparing this to PvP is spot on. But I would play a PvE only game, even though I would think it was missing a limb by not having PvP. Whereas too much survival (there is a spectrum here) is a show stopper for me.

It’s not any different than mmorpg this/mmorpg that or theme park this/theme park that.

It’s just a different flavor of game. We had our interesting but flawed first MMORPG’s and then the reign of the theme park games. Now we have games with survival.

    Eventually we’ll get something different.

Maybe we’ll get some souls like MMORPG’s.

Keep in mind Slap and his happy band of friends are all game hoppers by my definition, two months of fun in an online game is a rounding error in my book. :)

My group has 7 months in vanilla 7Days, on Day 935 and just now starting to think, maybe we should try out adding a few mods. (Our first choice will probably be "Better Doors").    ;)

I imagine we'll eventually restart on one of the larger overhaul mods, especially if Undead Legacy Mod ever gets updated for the A-21 release which is out currently.

The very first mod I install is the "Disable 'E' to jump out of they gyro at 30K feet"

Better doors is a cool mod, as is BDub's Vehicles. BDub is also working on a full conversion old school Fallout style mod.

Undead Legacy is still king, but since A21 changed so much under the hood, still no joy for several more months.

The good news is I never jump out of my gyro accidently, well not more than one or twice an evening.

Closest I will ever get to base jumping.
