I'm sure the ~18000 players still playing are excited.

It is a SP game. After you have the first play through do you really wanna repeat it multiple times over and over again? I'm on my 2nd playthrough and I don't have any drive to be a completionist and do it again even though I haven't done all the story lines and been everywhere yet.

Biggest disappointment in a game since Fallout 76. Not sure about this company anymore. Their last good game was Fallout 4 a long time ago.

I know it's fashionable to bash, but I think they are trying hard to right the ship.  I'm hoping because I would like to play.   Hopefully, they're making progress.

If the price gets low enough I might finally pick this game up to play it this year, so far the janky npc's just look so outdated that I'd rather wait and play better looking games.

The last Bethesda(?) game I bought was Fallout76. It got got dull pretty quick and I quit playing it. There were technical issues I had to research and manually fix myself. Once I got the game running smooth, I found the game to be playable without issue, except ghosting when looking down on trees. After this fiasco with their pet project, and even though I never bought Starfield (and probably never will), I doubt I'll touch another Bethesda game again.

Not talking sh1t, but with all that in mind.......what was the point of your post? Look, even Bethesda knows that it is the modding community that keeps their janky messes relevant for up to a decade after release. IMO there is a bit of rampant groupthink that affects the consumer base which negatively impacts them individually and their ability to set expectations and read between the lines of the 'hype'. Don't get me wrong, there are very damaging practices in the industry that give the consumer legit reason to be wary and that contribute to the resulting groupthink. I guess my point is, this kind of post does nothing to move the conversation forward, or to help break any of the cycle(s). ....../shrug

Fallout 76 is much better than those early days, highly recommend you give it a try again.

Honestly, I have liked the game since in launched.
I appreciate Bethesda games like I appreciate Piranha bytes games.
    Janky but fun.
