This one just seems to have big flashing red lights saying "DANGER" while it hurtles towards a cliff.

The very fact that you have to buy into the next beta, can't do it through steam and have to buy it direct from them, then you get sent a steam key to redeem is shady as fuck. It basically screams they are afraid of refunds and are figuring ways out to fuck the consumer out of fraud protection via refunding. Additionally here is an interesting note. Many of the assets the bought assets they have in game haven't been for sale in any store since 2015-2016 timeframe. The devs say they've only been in development for 3 years. If both are true, that means this dev team likely stole/ripped the assets that were for sale at one point to populate their game. Shady garbage company that knows what they produced is nothing more than a store bought or stolen asset flipped pieced together garbage mmo. It will release and probably function, at least minimally. It likely isn't on the level of The Day Before, but it is most definitely a cash grab and bad faith borderline scam none the less.

This beta test had an NDA attached, next one does not. Streamers will be allowed for next one. But the only way to get in Beta I believe is pay for the game, but as I said above you cannot buy it through steam. You buy it directly from them, they send you a steam code, so they can circumvent the Steam refund policy. That should tell you all you need to know.

While I agree this game has some red flags It seems pretty clear to me that some people here are just spouting BS conspiracy theories with no actual evidence to back it up. And no I'm not a shill nor will I be buying this game, just fed up with all the bullshit people spout on this website now days, it's no wonder it's becoming a ghost town website.

Are they still paying for beta? I was watching the dev log cause i was curious and they stated the beta was NOT payed. They also stated it will be steam only when purchasing from their store.

This runs counter to the info released several weeks ago. It appeared at the time that you could only get in beta from pre-purchase and not from STEAM. Maybe they changed their tune. I am not a conspiracy theorist but I have many concerns and see many red flags.

It is more risky to the player this way, but doesn't mean it's a scam. Steam allows studios to sell their game and generate their own Steam keys. When they sell the game that way Valve doesn't take a cut of their revenue. I believe it does however, contribute to their overall recorded revenue take which does affect the percent fee Steam does take. It gets complicated.

Overall though, not a scam to do this. Lots of Indie devs do this to keep more of the revenue for themselves.

Really? This is one of the only games I've ever heard doing this as far as sales go. I've had indie games issue steam keys for alpha/beta but none of those indies were charging to be part of testing when they did. My initial post in this thread said it will likely launch and be playable more so than say Day Before was. But I'm sorry when the company was faking pictures of their studio which they didn't have, tried covering up the amount of the game that was purchased assets until they had no choice but to address it, and then doing everything they can circumventing steam's refund policy...scam is the first thing that should pop into people's heads.

This game could be all the things you say. I'm interested in yet another GAAS wallet tapper and haven't looked at it. I just noticed your comment about the keys and wanted to point out that the practice in itself isn't scammy. Some indie devs do this. It isn't common, but not unheard of either.

I don't think selling a key for testing is a scam, if they actually deliver on the test. I do think it's sketchy and janky as hell and I wouldn't pay them for it. I think it also signals how desperate they are and the lengths they're willing to go to try and squeeze money out of their customers.

Mainly, I wanted to respond and mention that a lot of legit indie devs do this to help maximize what little revenue they do get. Just make sure the source is trustworthy.
