The entire world has a target on the back of every investor.

As they say inflation is the sin of capitalism and investors are the blood of inflation.

Uh, literally no one says that. China deals with inflation. Every nation deals with inflation. Some of the worst hyperinflation in recorded history is from North Korea, a socialist state. Maybe do some research before spewing socialist propaganda on a gaming forum.
Apparently they don't teach economic and monetary theory in schools much these days hence their totally incorrect assessment blaming Capitalism and of all people, investors.

Back in topic, this isn't the first new game to sell for this price point is it?

I thought I read about some others at $69.99 or have they not released yet?

Dragon's Dogma II is 69.99 ($70.00) and if it has the quality of the first I'm glad to pay it.

Just seeing someone mention Dragons Dogma in a Ubisoft-related topic makes me really happy.  xD

I'm a DD superfan, the end of March can't come soon enough.  <3

Have you peeps seen any streams of gameplay of this game...lmao  It's far, far from a AAAA or even being a AAA game.. SMH.

    :D

Brenics ~ Just to point out I do believe Chris Roberts is going down as the man who cheated backers and took down crowdfunding for gaming.

I think its worth 40, maybe 50, but what I will say is the game is fantastic. I really really like it. When you get deeper it reaaaally opens up and it stays fun. Idk, it got waaay to much hate, imo. I picked it up cuz I really like it. I don't think the people who gave it a shot rated it fairly and I think many have been passing judgement without even touching it. It has excellent immersion. Excellent combat. The world is gorgeous. The sailing is interactive. There is a looot to do and its genuinely awesome. Random ships call for aid and theres a few dynamic quests tied to that, escorts, repairs, etc. Theres a manufactory that allows you to make goods and ship them around for profit. You have to gather, then refine, then craft. It has deep ship customization and decent cosmetics for your captain. Map is a good size. The storms are truly epic, I mean really, you are missing out if you like sailing and you don't experience them. The only complaint I have is that it is arcadey, but hey, its still fun and im having a blast. Nothing like working with an islander pirate to help ship her ghanjah and get a fat rogue wave in the middle of someone attacking you that you escape by 5 meters and it crushes your pursuer right behind you. Epic.

Beta was really fun and I like the ships. But I am not paying 70. 40-50 is spot on.

Companies should charge whatever they feel the market will bear. Nothing wrong with that, at least as far as entertainment products go.
I disagree. The whole "what the market will bear" depends on reasonable alternatives being available. That's not what you get when it comes to entertainment. You can't replace one game with another. For example, FIFA, NFL, NBA, and other sports organizations have exclusive contracts. If you want to play a football game, you have one choice and those games charge up the wazoo with microtransactions. There isn't much competition when it comes to games. While there are many out there, they fill so many niches it's misleading to say any two games are comparable.

Naw, let's take just "football" or soccer if you will, heres a list of the Top 10 games

Not being able to play FIFA 22 does not mean there isn't plenty of choices.

If the game is worth it, I will pay $70. This game is not worth it.

And knowing its Ubisoft, its not just $70 but will have every microtransactions, Battle pass, DLC, expansions, add-ons, and nickel and dimed to the point I expect they will soon charge for patching and updates.

Oh you want the game to run at 60 fps and 4K, just purchase this patch for $14.99 and your game will run great!

We know you would like to skip the 10 minutes of promos and ads at the start of the game and you can for a on-time, low, low fee of $19.95!

It's Ubisoft, I wouldn't put it past them.

Err you said you wanted to play a "football game," not specifially a FIFA authorized game, though not being a sports game player I'm not sure why that might matter.

Yet, if it does than you definitely need to be willing to pony up and pay whatever they want to charge as they have a monopoly on that franchise/games related to it.

I mean, I'd really love discount pro sports tickets at our local stadiums but am not willing to pay what the market will bear for them. Same for Taylor Swift tickets, too rich for my blood.

    :)

There is a massive pent up demand for a college football (US football) game.  I think NCAA 2014 was the last version.  It's probably not going to be called NCAA football but will have the players and teams through NIL (Name Image Likeness).  EA is going to print money with this game.

I had a blast in the open beta, got the biggest ship you can get in the beta. Your progress carries over to the retail version so i went all in. It runs good and looks decent apart from the crappy LOD distance. It looks like it was optimized with consoles in mind...

Look, as the author of this piece, I just gotta say:

Sea of Thieves is right there. It's corny in the way that it doesn't take itself too seriously, but goddamn, it's earning that $30 price tag still.

    Also, it's not Ubisoft.

...I do get called slurs by 15yos, which I accept as a multiplayer player, but Rare takes that seriously, so.

I pulled a reference out of the air most people would recognize,  Greta Van who?

She ever perform a duo with Mass of Man or Ekoh? (Rap/Rock are my normal genres)

    It's a group. 3 brothers and a close friend.

Initially when I first heard them a few years back I thought Led Zed had a new album out. Since they have become better and better. They have also grown into a style of their own. My husband and I are going to watch a concert of theirs.

Decided to give their catalogue a listen this morning on YouTube Music, I see they have millions of views on several videos, but in the multiverse I originally hail from apparently they never got past the garage band stage.  ;)

Totally agree, a define Led Zep vibe from the very first song I listened to and is pervasive in most songs. (With a ting of Rush perhaps?)

Thing is, my music taste has really changed since I first listened to Zep back in 1973, and I found I didn't care much for this sound anymore. (I never listen to oldies, well, nothing much before 2000.)

Thanks for sharing, brought back some memories from a long time ago.
