Im such a sucker for buying this game. I knew this will happen, I told my self thousand times not to jump and but the game on first day >:(

They promised this game to basically be Survival MMO(lite)

And only 24 hours after the release, they cave in to whiners that bought the game without reading that its online only. And now they are going to divert fuc..ng developer time into basically re-coding the whole game to be single player.

But it does not end there

Endgame is basically a huge multiplayer hub city where players form groups and go into group dungeons.

When singleplayer whiners reach endgame, they will find out its not in single player mode. SO they will whine to join that too - ofcourse using their single player characters.
    And devs will buckle again.

The shitshow of cheating and twinked modded cheated singleplayer characters joining multiplayer will cause such rage that if the game does not die before that, it will 100% certanly kill it.

Sadly I was too long in the game when they announced this Bait and switch announcement, so steam does not want to refund me.

But be warned if you have planned on buying this.

I read it as they are making offline mode better. Not getting rid of co-op mode. They're just doing so first as it's easier.

Sorry man, I know this probably doesn't help but the developers talked about an offline mode more of a when not an if just last year. I think they talk about their own online settings, as well as the potential offline plans so people can host their own servers, modify their own settings, play with Mods etc. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=piDLsKXvcKg

Their idea was to make the harder to develop multiplayer first, collect some data and then see what kind of demand there was for an offline mode rather than potentially listening to the *vocal minority* requesting this offline option. It would appear that the people wanting offline only to host their own private servers, customize settings and play with mods may be the *vocal majority* in this case.

Maybe they can do like most other similar games do and keep the online characters from their servers different from the localized private server characters.

I really don't think the game will go Offline completely, if you don't want it to. Its always a smart decision to give people the ability to play when they don't have internet available. Its also ok to encourage online play as long as you give the option.

To many games have tried to go online only and failed way to fast. I think OFFLINE mode should be a standard unless the game is said to be a FULL Online MMO game, like WOW or Elder Scrolls.

There is no offline mode currently (unless I missed it)

Which, while I only play with friends... I think it's a legitimate gripe.

You know, my mistake, I was thinking of a "solo" experience. I assumed that this game, like Valheim or Enshrouded also had a solo experience. I thought it did from the stress test but since I'm not out of the tutorial I don't know if that's a choice.

Glad I didnt buy this game.  Someone close to me who bought the game, and I trust their opinion, said its absolute garbage.  Game seems to be extremely unfinished, being overweight is a huge problem, and generally just boring.

Devs said they had this huge budget.  LOL this game is less finished than games like Palworld with a fraction of the budget.  How is this dev team so out of touch.

Anyone play both Enshrouded and Nightingale?  I am curious which is the better game.

They aren't shifting focus to offline, they addressed this on Discord after the announcement and said there will be a more in depth post soon. Essentially what they said in discord was offline mode was always part of the plan, they have a separate team working on that already.

They are still developing all the content for online mode, and that is still going to be the intended mode of play, by design. The wording of the initial announcement caused a ton of upset in the community since most people bought this game *because* of the online/shared world features and don't want this game to be another host your own survival game, they're fully aware of what sets them apart, so their vision for the game hasn't changed.

Well I heard Nightingale is not ready yet and needs significant work.  Thats why I want someone to compare.  Because if Enshrouded is not even as good as Nightingale then im gonna pass on both enshrouded and nightingale.

Moded Valheim is pretty fun, but the dungeons in Valheim are extremely weak.  There is a mod that allows enchantments on loot and makes it closer to diablo loot.  Thats more my style, in addition to the increased boss difficulties mods and stuff.

That's what I think as well, the dungeons in Valheim aren't great. The "dungeons" or at least the notable places in enshrouded, are fairly well done but they are hand made. Nightingale has a decent amount going for it but I haven't seen any "dungeons" yet.

The premise is also a bit weird so it's hard for me to get into it. I like how one chops down trees or skins animals, how one builds. The combat is standard click and hit.

"Cave in to whiners". I've bought nearly every game in this genre, and, that being said, enjoyed nearly all. Online only, online, partly online, I'll give you expletives. The genre itself is exploration, survival, building. I can, want and should be able to do all of that without anyone else. Gimme a tiny caveat in, co-op, I'll hand hold family members through that same experience. But to sell me (and I guess like minded adventurers, short) simply because we didn't read the "FINE PRINT" (hidden, btw, spent two hours looking for info yesterday), is a shit show.
I'll say on a side note, that barring issues, I will ENTIRELY cheat through my experience, as I do 90% of games. In the past I enjoyed the (1km headshot, first on the board UT experience) but I'm entirely sold now on enjoying a game at my pace. Online hinders this, because I cannot cheat and most games are tuned too high now.. (I'd say go back and Play older games with less 1 shot mechanics) Either way I see so many people loving 1 shot mechanics and HATING other players for enjoying something their way.
I'm salivating over the game,.... but I'm watching....

AT this point if they would all be new I'd start with Valheim since it's been further developed since launch.

Thats said, between Nightingale and Enshrouded my group went with Nightingale.  I didnt buy Enshrouded yet but I played the demo and really like it.  Team members that bought it on launch suggested we hit Nightingale first...

So thats the plan.   So far enjoying it but you can clearly see things that need a polish pass.

I'm waiting on both. Neither are far enough along to satisfy what I want to see out of a game. From the feedback I've read and videos I've seen, they both need to cook longer.

For crafting builders I like the option to host/rent my own private server or run a non-dedicated single player/coop instance.

I will say though that just because a game offers that option doesn't mean it's designed for single player game play. Ark is a perfect example. Even though the configuration can be tweaked to accommodate single or coop play, the game itself is heavily designed for group play and with a focus on PvP. Nothing about single player or private server options changes that. It's still very cool, but I can see now after experiencing it that games like Valheim, Grounded, and 7Days are built with that thought in mind even if they focus on group play.
