    Yeah I read the official press release and it's a bunch of vague jargon without actually committing to or explaining anything. Other than being in the EVE universe, there's really nothing else. They mention blockchain and encryption but not how it's being used. People always assume blockchain means cryptocurrency, but blockchain is just a distributed database that's near impossible to hack. That's why it's used for crypto, but you don't have to use it for that. No details about the gameplay or anything other than vague promises of "player empowerment" whatever that means.

    I am speculating this:

    the game will be “built upon the principles of freedom, consequence, and mastery within a living universe”.


    means full loot open pvp because, well, it's CCP and in the EVE universe. I'm expecting the opposite of casual friendly. Matter of fact with blockchain in the mix death may literally mean costing you money in real life. Who knows?

    This press release certainly won't tell you.

    If there's a playtest that close, they could release a SINGLE in game image, but I scoured their whole website and no dice. I don't why you don't want me to trust you CCP.

    In my opinion this is the only way that blockchain in games could work. By allowing and even promoting third party development. So willing to see what we end up with. However I still can not see many benefits over just having a database supported by an API.

    I mean the only benefit is that the stuff you have is yours. So even if CCP would go down someone could use the blockchain to build something else around it. But pretty sure that will end up just being theoretical. If CCP could not make a game around that blockchain work, why would any other serious party attempt it and not just create something new and fresh.
