Final Fantasy XIV is finally making its way to Xbox in just a few more days, and with it comes a convoluted way to use the in-game store for those who play the game on the Xbox Series X/S console.

    All the other platforms you have the option to use Crysta to make purchase as well as cash, but it's strange that they adopted a new single currency on the xbox platform. It must be something to do with the monetization deal they have with Microsoft on XBox.

    It is kind of strange, but also not surprising, because this is Microsoft we are really talking about here at the end of the day.... it sucks but this is probably the deal with the devil Square|Enix had to make (one of them) just to get the Xbox signed on.

    To increase the number of people playing FFXIV it was a wise move by SquareE and one that will ultimately prove to be a good investment regardless of what changes and concessions they make. Xbox is a huge platform they have been missing out on.

    Yeah it's weird because I can't imagine playing an MMORPG on a console, but apparently there are a lot of people who do.

    Article states the currency is convoluted without explaining what is convoluted about it. That's some prime journalism right there.

    I don't see how it's convoluted, but okay. It's literally like anything else in these games, even FFXIV itself. Buy crysta... Which is the currency you use to either sub to the game or buy stuff with. Super complicated.
    I like to complain about games.

    According to the article, Crysta doesn't work on the Xbox console version. It's FF Coins only. The link to the FF14 for Xbox FAQ is linked in the article.

    I think Crysta is not really needed, but it is a nice choice, especially when you don't keep track of your subscriptions. If you forget to refill, your month simply expires with no consequences. Having to go through microsoft and xbox accounts for transactions, I can understand why a new currency was needed to make it work. Let's just hope people can get their currency without issue.
