Yeah that's a lot to parse to say whether this is good bad or indifferent. I see a big pile of nerfs in there as well as buffs. The itemization changes do sound like they are going in a better direction. Still no sets, still no uniques that radically alter gameplay that I can tell on paper, but I'm sure this will all get parsed out by the hardcore and we'll know in a few weeks if it's worth anything. Glad to see they're not just throwing in the towel, though.

Can't wait to see how they mess it up.

I do wonder with them purposefully diminishing item drops how it will affect peoples ability to repair and upgrade. I am already limited in upgrades by forgotten souls since they made it almost impossible to get Forgotten Souls in salvaging, and I hate Helltides. They say they are now going to be rare drops from any Elite so we'll see what that means exactly

8000+ people worked on Diablo 4. Yet of all the mainstream ARPG's launched in the last 20 years its the most devoid of anything innovative or interesting. It does absolutely everything, aside from maybe production values graphically/cutscenes etc) worse than just about any other major ARPG on the market. I truly believe that, other than their art teams, Blizzard has warm bodies working for them and thats about it. Everyone else who works there is devoid or all talent, creatively, and knowledge about any of the games they make. Based on what they typically parade out in front of the cameras for videos, they're more concerned with making the word thinking they're diverse than putting people on camera who actually know what they are talking about. You look at this patch, and its obvious the people there are trying to correct the multitude of issues the game has. But its also obvious they are completely clueless how to do or fix anything significant. As you said, no sets a year into development, and remember pre launch they said sets would come in the coming in future seasons because they wanted to get them "right". A year later they can't figure it out, itemization is boring and sucks, and the lack of legendaries that change the way you play is just so pathetic.

I'm sure that difficulty in assessment won't stop people from condemning their efforts before they experience the results.

Regardless, they won't be throwing in the towel any time soon. They've expanded previous versions of Diablo to a better state so they will at least try that here before surrender.

I'd say itemization was the worst culprit in its mediocrity . The 2nd was its mmo aspect... party based, online only.
Besides that I could never get far enough to REALLY say yay or nay.
Beyond that, itemization is a huge issue is the genre. Last Epoch is great fun, but 95% of all my gear is equip, if better keep, if not discard. Theres frankly, too many options to keep track of for me to even know if its decent. I hope their revamp helps to curtail this..... But I'm not holding my breath, considering the abysmal skills the game offers.

I don't think anyone sees them giving up just yet? But this was a game that failed to realise the promise we had for it and the hype it was given. I am glad I did not buy it, but I remain hopeful they will do enough to change my mind.

Could've been better but I played the first two seasons and got more than my money's worth.

For sure. It may eventually get there but right now it falls short. The gearing is a huge problem. I got one item that actually changed up play but that was only in conjunction with a configuration of the robot not available after the season.

There is no feeling of excitement at all when dropping gear at my current point because the lion's share of it is entirely useless to me and the rest of the time it is a marginal improvement at best. It wears at one's enthusiasm when the only progress left is grinding up glyphs for a wee bit more bonus.

If they can get gearing sorted it will be a huge boost for the game. I hope the upcoming revision is a solid start to that process.

I needed to challenge that number, because that's a number so high i couldn't believe it, as in i literally didn't believe it.

And turns out, there's been a correction to that number; according to this article by Kotaku: https://kotaku.com/diablo-4-credits-staff-blizzard-large-assassin-s-creed-1850629620 - the figure they got for those credits for Diablo 4 was basically including everyone who worked/works (Employees') for Blizzard at that time, plus some special thank you credits.

That means potentially a team of janitors are on those credits somewhere, let that sink in for a second.

Anyway Microsoft needs to get their act together, they don't seem to have realised some of these Blizzard guys get paid by the word.

Another ignorant, believing that 8k+ people worked on Diablo 4 in the..meaning they want to believe it, aka coders, feature designers, etc.

I am not even bothering to explain to you the common sense behind the..8k+ people.

Anyway, D3 was in the same mess. And it only got better after like 2 years, when RoS was released.

Yes, I would of love to have a D4 version of the game much better than what we got..but it is what it is.

I also got my money worth, especially in the season 2 which was the best of all 3 .. by a lot.

I hope this changes will bring D4 where everyone can enjoy playing it.
