It's rare to see a company flounder this much. I just can't imagine how disconnected from reality they have to be to come to these conclusions. A whole room of company leading, fully smart, grown adults had to all sign off on these things as the best way to proceed. How is it that nobody, not a single one, in that room raised their hand and said "This is a really bad idea"?

Any person, from any walk of life could tell you that this would cause extreme backlash. The only thing I can think of is that this was designed to generate advertisement through negative press. Buuuuttt.... that doesn't explain the other stuff like using fine print to get negative videos removed, completely bumbling cheats and RMTs, lets not forget they also left out female avatars and stated that they were left out because they "can't handle this amount of stress".

That is an impressive amount of bad decisions and money grabs for a game that isn't released yet.

Gamers have the power to make this nonsense stop, but they probably won't.

Rare is the monetization hill gamers aren't willing to climb.

Honestly, I think it reflects on their desparation to recoup some of their losses w/ Arena, and the fact that new players are anxious to buy any edition of Tarkov due to the flagrant cheaters, so it makes sense for them to instead exploit the hardcore cadre of long term players and their inner FOMO to stay competitive....

After I quit playing pubg I was going to try this game out. Now I'm glad that I didn't.

I get the impression they had a good reputation going up until this mess.

Financially yes, but apparently it's a hacker and cheater paradise.

But then aren't most PVP games accused of being such?

And not without reason. I remember back when CoD banned 50,000 players in one day for cheating. Folks like to act as if cheating is just done by a small handful of bad apples, but by in large the community is honest. Please. If hacks are available then it's going to be widespread especially in a PVP shooter where everyone wants an advantage and there's no major risk to a ban other than having to buy the game again. It's not like WoW where you lose months of work and have to start over

Supposedly a lead or dev stated that they only ban a fraction of cheaters because if they banned them all they'd be less likely to repurchase.

Oh, so it's part of their business model, need more cash, just ban a round of the worst cheaters who then repurchase the game.

The regret seems sincere. BS sincerely regrets their fans didn't like and buy into their expensive package. I see no remorse about the ethics of selling such advantage for a big price tag or treating their customers (players) so horribly.

But there have been a lot of PvP franchises that have sold expensive P2W expansions and come out just great. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
