The only reason why this is clearly in response to Larian, and thus a brownie points farm, is that they're kind of like 6-7 years late.
Hey, hopefully during Witcher 4's lifespan, there will be a crazy gamer anti-DLC outrage out there, so CDPR will give all Witcher 4 DLC for free 5 years later.
