I'm far more excited about this pivot, I'd prefer the game be this way to begin with. I kind of just don't care about seeing other people running around aimlessly in the world, because I find myself not needing to or caring to talk to them. This is especially true in a game where we're playing characters. I don't want to see multiple versions of myself standing around in town, even if we are wearing different outfits.

I'll buy it. I can respect them for this decision and honestly more companies should do this if they can instead of outright shutting them down. Pretty rare to get a single-player/co-op game without micro-transactions in this day-and-age anyway.

Dead game walking just got deader.

So, when this game is finally put out of it's misery and the studio closes is it going to be blamed on the "state of the industry, more layoffs"

Ah, so the Pagan Online approach, lol. What a god damn disaster.

Actually sounds like a decent game. Will check it out!

When/if it leaves Early Access, I'll check back into it. I haven't had good luck with purchasing any Early Access titles.

I played a couple beta sessions for this. It wasn't great. It felt like an ARPG like POE where the towns were hubs then the adventure was mostly solo or small party. But you couldn't build your class really the way you could with a true ARPG. I wasn't impressed then. Now in a month or two they're going to all of a sudden turn this into a single player/small group ARPG. Yeah doubtful. Since its already preset classes you're not going to have much customization despite them shoehorning in a talent tree. The combat wasn't very interesting either. While I applaud them for trying to salvage something out of their publisher debacle by effectively giving people an offline version of a shuttered online game, I don't see it panning out well.

Gonna give this another try an june 11th as this sound quite promissing. If it still sucks there's always the refund button as long as I don't test it longer than 2 hours.

The incompetence of this studio is surprising. I see this change as: "we won’t be able to meet expectations at launch, so let’s polish some more of this shit and release it as a full game as soon as possible and life goes on."

The point is Wayfinder does not have the depth of being a singleplayer/coop like Granblue Fantasy Relink for example. The game's foundation is a live service. This change is very obvious to me. They want to drop the project without having to refund players.
