I was really pulling for this game...until I tried it. I'm an old gamer, been playing since original EQ launch in 1999. I know what old school alpha's and betas are. This game is, at best, pre pre alpha. When I played it, the animations were both stiff and out of sync at the same time. The controls were pretty bad on top of that floaty would be a way to describe it. The world was lifeless despite npc's being present. The choices for power sets felt limited, generic, graphically poor and uninspired, and also not responsive the way you want them to be. I applaud them for trying to make a super hero game when at the time they started this COH Homecoming wasn't live. Between this and City of Titans I thought Ship of Heroes had a better shot of releasing. I played this about 5-6 months ago briefly, and unless it's done a complete 180, I think if they do release this anytime in the next year it's going to get savaged by gaming press and customers alike and be DOA. These are amateurs making this game kind of like a hobby, and it's sad to say it truly shows.

I also played it recently and all of this is true, but... I would rather amateurs make the game as a hobby than a soulless executive team come in and make some absolute complete MTX garbage. I've been playing MMO's longer, since 1997 with UO. I'll just let them cook, could care less how long it takes. I'd rather see a passion project than a corporate greed game. And it's niche, it doesn't need thousands of players. If it topped out at 1,000 people concurrent.... that's a good tight-knit community.

Oh I agree on a lot of that as well. I don't care how long something takes to release if it's worth it, but I made this post because I've read they're looking to launch the game end of year or early 2025 or so. I don't remember when I read that exactly admittedly. But if those are still the plans, it's not gonna end well. This game is NOT ready for launch nor will it be in 6-12 months. This thing needs years more in development. I have grown to detest a lot of soulless AAA company games. I prefer smaller team stuff because they still have passion for good games, not just money. However this is an example of a smaller/indie team that might have the passion, but seem to be lacking the skill to make even a passable game. I want them to succeed, but it's apparent they likely are not going to. No matter how much I hate AAA game companies (and 99% of the crap they release) and love indie dev's and smaller games those indie dev's still have to produce a relatively well made game regardless of scale. Sadly this, thus far, is anything but well made.
