Well it's a better name than Where Winds Break. Looks cool, actually. I'm playing Ghost of Tsushima currently and absolutely love it, so I'll keep an eye on this.

I reallllllllly want a good Wuxia game.

If it's just another Souls-like with no difficulty options in the modern climate, then no thanks.

If it's a regular, fun open world action adventure romp, then shut up and take my money.

Looks fun. I absolutely love Asian games. The attention to detail, the attention to detail with clothing, monsters, weapons. Just wonderful.

Where else will you find a guy fighting with a parasol and then we see scenes of someone conjuring a giant flying fish to kick your ass. I bow to you Asian games. You're hella fun.

I played in the closed beta, and my god is it fun. The story is unlike other games that make you want to skip every part of the dialogue. It was very engaging. The lore kept me going, the combat was excellent where you have to counter attack, parry, and dodge to take down just about any enemy that's not a scrub. It has settings that change the difficulty of the combat so less experienced players in the genre and veterans alike can equally have a good experience just by changing an option setting or two.

The game was also beautiful and ran pretty much flawlessly on my 3090 nvidia card at max settings. The multiplayer mode wasn't really enabled to the fullest during closed beta so I couldn't test that out but I look forward to seeing what they do if and when they have open beta before release with it. People say it's similar to Ghost of Tsushima and in some ways it is but this is Wuxia Chinese mythology and not japanese lore and mythology.

My favorite part of the game was the cultivation aspect of it and building my character. The game encourages you to explore every nook and cranny of the game before moving onto the next area/phase/challenge level/etc. It seems they have a major focus on user experience. They want their players to be happy while playing and not just put them on a rollercoaster ride of linear story lines and things you HAVE to do. It's all optional, but skipping some content may make some things more difficult or challenging later on down the line.

It's the #1 game I'm looking forward to. It's dwarf Pax Dei, Star Citizen, or any other game I thought I'd want. However I am biased because I actually got to play the closed beta and offer my feedback to the developers on how to improve it. Y'all are in for a treat, look forward to it.

The last Wuxia game I played besides WWM in the closed beta was Swordsman X Swordsman on steam and BOY OH BOY was that a disaster. It could have been Wuxia Conan Exiles but the developers gave a crap effort to release the game in the west and quickly abandoned the game after the first few weeks. It was barely translated into english and most parts I had to use my phone to read the chinese. It had a lot of bugs, but it was fun in some parts and had potential, but it's potential was wasted.

Do you know of any other good Wuxia games?

No matter how good a game is, i still kind of frown a bit when the subject matter is 'yet another Wuxia game'

I struggle with Chinese mythology and even more so if it's a story trying to force a epic tale into the confines of a single incident (eg: pupils master is killed>goes on revenge mission to bring killer to justice>never finds killer but instead runs into 101 different meaningless side plots)

I know that's not ALL Wuxia and I'm not trying to simplify the genre, but it kind of feels that way sometimes.

Maybe i just haven't played a 'good' Wuxia game yet.

This looks so much like what I would enjoy but I suppose it needs all the dodge and block and all the other stuff I suck at. Would love to play but I won't be able to sadly.

I think its always good to check in to what you actually will need to do before making up your mind, "Story" difficulty can in some games enable effortless parries and dodges etc. Absolutely solo player cheating in my eyes, but if its there and you need to use it don't miss out on good games. :)

Yeah, I had somewhat similar concerns, I don’t want to be playing Tekken after all, Elden Ring is about the most demanding game i can handle these days .

Have not participated in the Beta but I just watched a Beta walkthrough video for Where Winds Meet showing from when they first login to the game - Select difficulty etc.

There seem to be 3 choices Easy, Normal, Difficult but there is also a choice between Action Combat style “Combat abilities are cast using specific key combinations”, recommended for players who enjoy Console and Action games and a Classic Mode “Combat abilities and Artistries have shortcuts allowing for easy click to cast controls”, recommended for players who enjoy the MMORPG experience.

So it may be more accessible than it appears at first glance. Here is the link to that video:
