I have so many memories and emotions tied to EQ. Going through kithicor forest at night for the first time, dying to trains in unrest, discovering luclin, farming dungeons in ldon, offtanking rampage phases with my ranger, chain pulling for hours/days/months farming AA and key fragments, selling virtue and other buffs in pop, farming bane weapons and raid flags, that feeling of amazement when you finally clear a boss together after weeks of hardship, running around spoting openworld repops and trying to regroup the hole guild to be the first on sight for the kill. All this in a world without youtube, google, text messages, or vocals, just plain 56k modem or ISDN upgrade, rotary dial phones, and chat channels
One can only repesct the legacy of this game and all the gamers and game developpers it inspired.
Can't wait for the 19th to hop into EQ2 and slay gnolls and skeletons like the old days
So i guess we are just forgetting about that $1,500 ticket price to this event? or did they cancel that shit at the last minute? Because i feel like we collectively swept that under the rug and just forgot it happened.

What does it matter?
If the tickets are $1500 and it's more than you think the event is worth and you would never spend that much then the event is not for you.
It's for the people who think it's worth it or who have so much money that it's a not even an afterthought.

It amazes me how much money people spend on this 25 year old game....Last time I checked they had 15-16 TLP servers (which you have to sub to play), and I have lost track of how many expansions (30?).....I left in 2005 thinking there wasnt much more they could do with the game....People left for EQ2 and WoW in droves and there was hardly anyone to even play EQ with.....
I think it’s a testament to MMORPG’s and their communities.
You mean DBG and DBG alone because they always believed in the "Quantity >>> Quality" business practice
I don’t play EverQuest so I can’t speak to the quality. Also, EverQuest has been chugging along for years, I’m sure Daybreak didn’t do all those expansions.
Regardless, there seems to be an audience for their expansions, no matter the quality.

It appears that both EQ and EQ2 are still very profitable, whereas a EQ3 most likely would not......DBG seems to be OK with lower costs and lower profits rather than trying to hit a home run with a new game.
The people attending are perhaps happy to meet their guildmates in real life and are happy to spend on the game of their choice. I think many fans of different hobbies spend way more.
