Pax Dei's Developers Lay Out the Development Roadmap Goals For Its Early Access Period | MMORPG.com

Last week, Mainframe Industries laid out its high-level vision of Pax Dei. Today, a day out from its early access launch, the developers are looking at the development goals for the MMO, laying out its priorities over the course of the next year.

First, they don't have a friend's list now? Okay wow.
Second, who told them they need a voice chat? Are they deliberately trying to make the game toxic? I won't buy the game so far into early access, the game is basically an early alpha. I'll check back after a year or so and see if it has improved any or died in its infancy.

Lost all respect for this "game" and company with the way they have so obviously gone for the cash grab while barely even being able to be considered in alpha phase. They got a lot of good press off their last couple of test weekends, and instead of deciding to finish the game, they said nah lets start charging people to play this barely a game alpha and take all their money in case we don't want to or can't finish it.

With such a large world, I hope they do not take the New World or Everquest route at start of game and take a year or more to put in mounts and ways to move large amouts of supplies from one place to another on the map.
I do like that they have included swimming in the game.

At this point I am waiting on games to drop chat interfaces in favor on voice chat. FYI, its the first thing I turn off in every single game I play.

Voice. I have kiddos that run around when I play often. I truly hate automated voice chat too that connects if you leave it on. I think D4 does this with boss fights and the like. I am old school and started gaming when all we had was typing. Ventrilo is still my all-time fav to use

Yeah I agree with you there. I’d rather have text. I don’t want to hear what’s going on in some other person’s background or listen to them complain about their life because they lack social skills.

The only time I think voice is important is during a raid or siege or something that requires complex and fast coordination.

Agreed and I am not usually into that kind of content. Like in WOW, I am good with raid finder just to see a story play out or a resolution to a quest. I have no desire to do Mythic or the same content at harder levels and part of that is not liking voice chat. On top of that I am in TEAMS and ZOOM meetings all day long and constantly with head phones and talking with work so I do not want that in my gaming either.

Reminds me a lot of my trial of it. Performance was not good at all. I just realized they are looking at MMO pricing with a monthly fee. I thought it was more buy and play so that caught me off guard. I may let it bake a while and come back in 6 months or so and see where it is at.

I think they do. I believe people try out these games for thinking early access is “mostly “ finished and that they are getting in on the ground floor so to speak.

They realize it’s not finished, doesn’t have a fleshed out world let alone proper game systems and leave their “carefully worded, well designed thought out opinions and never come back.

“You only get one chance at a first impression.”

Sadly I think early access for small developers is a Hail Mary attempt to try to get desperately needed funds.

My Server/Province/Home Valley is pretty empty. Outside my group I have only seen 1 other foundation being built and saw maybe 3 other people in total.

Good for resource harvesting, but... probably not ideal long term.

Also hit a bug where we no longer can build anything. It's known and a patch is on the way but we filled up all our chests so we kind of can't do anything further at this point.

I posted about this exact thing recently and I have noticed it really badly this year. Some games see these super peaks at early access "launch" and they plummet soon after. For many of them, its too early to see if they recover but also gamers have short attention spans now as there are so many options. I can go play any number of finished and complete survival games, why play one full of bugs and issues and not only that, will I even remember in 12-24 months when it comes out of early access?

I do think its a money grab but I wonder what the bottom line looks like. A quick cash infusion but hurts sales later? I miss the days of closed betas and really testing games. Many years ago I was chosen to test a real time strategy game. It was a big deal and I even got special real life rewards for it and recognition. It really mattered to me and I tested and played the heck out of it. I would love to do that again.
