Final Fantasy XIV has released quite a few interesting raids in its 10 year history, yet Hayes believes nothing will ever top the Return to Ivalice Alliance Raids from Stormblood. Check out why.

Refreshing to see an article that's not mindlessly praising everything surrounding the game. Stormblood combat felt leaps and bounds better than the homogenized slug we have right now, but you might be right when you say the game has moved on from that style.

For better or worse. It was for the worse for me, but it's possible I'm in the minority.
I feel like A Realm Reborn, Heavensward and Stormblood are a whole different game compared to Shadowbringers, Endwalker and presumably Dawntrail.

I know Yoshida said they would review the combat in the future, but his word doesn't amount to much when he himself has backpedaled several times over the course of the decade.

Not only that, but one of his answers regarding the healer situation has been "just play Ultimates" if people wanted more complexity, completely ignoring the fact some Ultimate fights have been cleared with 1 or no healers at all. Or how in the Dawntrail Media Tour, the dungeons were cleared without a healer.

But I digress. Criticizing this game in any shape or form is just asking for blind rebuttal and fanatical fervor. In my 11 years in the community, I've seen many streamers get threatened and bullied out of streaming because of "the best community." Just look up what happened to Scottzone if you want an example.

I've seen the community surrounding the game deteriorate over time, with people primarily being passive-aggressive about every little thing. It's very tiring.

All the Raids bring something different to the table; some of the Raids that are big standouts tend to be the ones that had guest directors involved.

Return to Ivalice was guest directed by: Yasumi Matsuno - best known for Final Fantasy Tactics.

YoRHa: Dark Apocalypse was guest directed by: Yoko Taro and Yosuke Saito; those two need no introduction.

I think these two Alliance raids are the most memorable for people by just being these worlds and storylines that could live outside the world of Eorzea instead of simply being an extension of it.

That being said, i firmly believe all of these Raids from ARR to Endwalker stand completely on their own in terms of what they offer and represent; and while i have my personal favorites as others will, i don't really think one has ever outdone the other; precisely for the reasons of personal preference.

If one looks for them, you'll absolutely find players who will swear up and down that the best Raid series ever was Shadow of Mhach.
