I really miss the days where I just paid a sub.

Now I have to figure out various currencies, cash shop, RMT auction house, battle pass, leveling pass.

All for a "Free To Play" game. Which caters to the huge portion of people who will never spend a cent on the game.

Anyhow, despite that I'll be playing the test tomorrow.

The days of Sub games are over because people dont want to risk the money to play the game and determine they dislike it.

RMT is in every game with or without sub. There is no way around this sadly.

The cash shop within this game has been reduced a lot by NCsoft as well as Amazon and they have removed a lot of items which would be considered P2W items and benefits.

The battlepass can now be purchased using ingame lucent currency which can be earned while playing the game itself without any money.

I would prefer games going back to the buy to play model as well as sub because how else are these companies going to support making the game and keep the updates going.

People these days think that the games should be given to us for free and without us giving anything back to the developers who worked hard in making said game.

I hope there's no P2W. I wouldn't mind paying a sub or b2p model or a bit of both if the game were good. A 30 day trial would be nice and if I like it continue the sub. But now there's only freemium models which don't work in MMORPGs

Ya know, some of the most successful games I've played put the "R" in RPG, they may not have been so big on the MMO part, but games like Conan Exiles that have a big PvE or PvP RP private servers with mods have stood the test of time and are still fun to this day with the dedicated players that remain. A game like this, MIGHT hold a player's interest for a few months, but then they'll get bored and find the next new game to play.

You say that but then shit on Ashes of Creation any chance you get, i find this amusing...just to inform you AoC business model....No box cost, expansions/DLC/updates are all free....Mandatory monthly sub of $15 and a cosmetic cash shop....the Cash shop will only have skins, you need to earn the item first in game before a cosmetic can be applied...absolutely no P2W and will never be P2W...not that you care

I do not see "sub-Games" as a cause.  Its a form of monetization.  I would not support anyone simply because they have a sub.

I believe that the person behind AoC is very shady and has been proven to be untruthful in many things he has said.  Thats a totally separate conversation.  If you want to have that one feel free to start a thread and I'll go join it.

I agree with you. I also believe paying a monthly fee is the best monetization model by far. Unfortunately, people prefer to have the illusion of playing something "for free". Anyway, T&L monetization is better than the average at least.

Give me a good everquest style MMO with decent graphics and I'd pay $50/month per account.
sadly the art of making a decent MMORPG has been lost to time

I am already hearing that AGS is having a bit of a problem. It seems like the PS5 version isn't working.

Disappointing, but not as bad as it could have been. If they think their game isn't good enough to get people to subscribe, then it's not good enough, period.

That said, buy-to-play would be a much more palatable option than the battle pass. I was interested in the game until they mentioned a battle pass, even if you can buy it for semi-in-game currency. I hate everything about battle passes, and I hope the players revolt against it.
