Be prepared for a few days worth of database fixes just to get the game stable again.

Why are they releasing the preload an entire month in advance. They expecting that many problems with it? I think I answered my own question.

Very surprised they still haven't implemented native controller support. All modern mmo's have it, and there is a growing portion of gamers that simply won't bother with M/KB controls.

WoW has had native controller support for several years now. Back in Shadowlands I think.

I've never bothered to try it so I don't know how to enable it.

I have played WoW with a controller . Works fine. I do manage the inventory on the mouse and kb however.

They do not have native support. Controllers can work is not the same thing lol. typing "/console gamepadEnable 1" into chat isn't native support nor are downloading controller profiles to pretend to be a mouse.

There is a difference and the word native matters.

Because they don't have native support lol... ESO = native support WOW = "it can work" support

And why does it have to be "native".  Just download consoleport addon and set it up.  Or are you just being lazy?

Because without native support there are ALWAYS issues with the controller implementation (since it wasn't implemented by the actual devs). The post above you literally said "Works fine. I do manage the inventory on the mouse and kb however."

The fact that anyone is debating this issue and defending a corporation's laziness is mind-boggling. But by all means, enjoy licking those boots as much as you want.

I have never managed inventory in any game whether with native support or not with the controller. I detest that aspect because of the thumbstick movements. The mouse and kb is superior in this regard. I won't even use the controller unless I can seamlessly switch between controller and mouse and kb, that is absolutely essential and not negotiable.

I just find combat and moving around much easier with the controller but for every other aspect of the game the mouse and kb is better. That goes for any game. Genshin Impact makes me choose between the two and I dumped it. You cannot use both at the same time one locks the other out. When that happens game gets dumped.

I appreciate the extra effort developers go to in making the switch seamless and I love those games.

There are plenty of modern mmo's that have native controller support. I grew up on M/KB mmo's and now I detest playing pretty much anything with a M/KB. It's just preference which is why the lack of support is so jarring.

Some people enjoy playing games on a couch with a controller on their large TV (WOW is on gamepass), other people enjoy sitting at a desk with their leet gaming accessories.

Neither is wrong, but the lack of options is anti-consumer and nothing other than corporate greed/laziness.

Native controller support means that the game supports controllers without the need of a third party program, which is what WoW does.

    WoW has native controller support.

Just because you don't like does not mean that it is not native support.

But, it sounds like you are nitpicking just to nitpick.

I suppose you're one of those people who think the controller can only map a few keys to it. FFXIV can map 48 skills on a controller. That is way more than any sane person needs.

I use it because I am awfully old with arthritis on my hands and carpel on my wrist so the controller is a lot more gentler on them. Mouse and kb are really bad for your hands and wrists.
