I'm playing the game now. Levels 1 to 5 I was bored and was like "eh I'm gonna quit." levels 5 to 15 it started to improve and i was like "I kinda get it." Now at level 20, with 60 being the max, I'm genuinely enjoying myself.

Games a slow burn but gets under your skin. And I haven't found anything P2W imo and I've dissected the cash shop a few times.

Game has its flaws for sure, a number of currencies, some confusing menus, but once you get it worked out it makes sense.

I'm also a big fan of being able to switch from 3rd person to 1st person with just a mouse tap, makes moving around and clearing tight buildings much more manageable.

I am really enjoying the game, however I am worried their fixation on seasonal characters will spoil that. I am the sort that gets into survival type games for the long term progression, and plays through them slowly, base building and build tweaking, the first season only being a VERY short one means I might not get to see a lot of what it has to offer.

Plus I dislike the idea of starting again, even with their half way house solution.

I view the seasonal wipes as more of a Newgame+ than a full restart.
You can make multiple blueprints of your territory. I have 1 for each Phase of the season, so you only need to farm materials to rebuild your base, which are pretty easy to come by currently.

Weapon and Gear blueprints carry over including the upgrades to those blueprints, so if you get a combat build that you like, you can use it again with lower tier materials all the way to max.

Most of the quest progress will carry over, you can re-do them for rewards, but new maps and questlines could be available too.

certain items and materials will also be able to be transferred into Eternal lands, and out of it.

So it has both short term, and long term progression available on the seasonal characters. Not sure if older seasons will revert to a legacy character if you choose to not move your character to the new season, but there is a possibility around that as well.

Wife and I are... kind of addicted. Once Human scratches a lot of itches. However, two things that might make us stop are the seasons and the inability of friends joining us on a server if they don't start around the same time we do.

We'll have to see how it plays once this season ends. I don't like the idea of spending so much time developing a character, building a home, and experiencing a world and story to only have it all wiped away after a few weeks. Kind of feel like what's the point?

Should we play like we do in other MMOs and fully explore this area, cleaning out each location? Hmm.. only a couple weeks left so what's the point? Should we spend this much time building our base and making it look good? Hmm... only a couple weeks left so what's the point?

That just leaves the gameplay loop of frantically grinding specific content over and over and over to get better gear to "beat the game". That's not fun to us. So what's the point?

We'll see... I really hope that due to keeping blueprints and stuff that it won't feel like all our time was pointless once the season is over. Because besides that feeling of impending doom we're having a lot of fun.

Oh, and the whole "server is full" a couple days after we start on a new server, keeping our friends from joining us... what's the point?
