If you don't sub that's fine, I'm not trying to change any minds, but saying nothing to offer until the end of the year is disingenuous. August is bringing Atlas Fallen, Crash N. Sane Trilogy, and Mafia. I would also guess the whole Call of Duty catalog is coming this year. Game Pass is more than first party games.

I think you nailed it. Also, Xbox is bigger than GamePass. There is a rumor that it's being delayed because there are a lot of games releasing around that time. In addition to what you mention,

Starfield expansion, Titan Quest 2, Judas, Clockwork Revolution, Visions of Mana, Star Wars Outlaws, Ace Attorney Investigations Collection, Space Marine 2, Assassin's Creed Shadows, and a ton more. It's a pretty packed release schedule over the next few months.

I'm not a huge fan of the upcoming price increases and I think paywalling online access should be illegal, but GamePass has paid for itself a few times over for me this year and a half or so. When my time is up in December, I'll reevaluate then.

Do tell us if you come of it, I am interested to know how many people who start Game Pass stick with it and for how long?

Yeah my problem with Game Pass is the games in the library are there or at least can be there temporarily. Therefore if there's a game on Game Pass you really like that they pull from the library, in addition to paying for it on Game Pass, you're going to have to buy it as well. It just seems like a subscription fee to demo games to me, and that's not something I'm willing to pay for. Also, there's games that I like to play which I already own which are not on Game Pass. Even if they were added to Game Pass, I already paid for the game, so why would I now pay a subscription for a game that I already paid for?

Game Pass seems like a great value for the gamer nomad who is always changing games every couple of weeks as their interests shift. This is a totally valid way to game, by the way. Just like there's people that pick up a new book to read every couple of weeks. No one thinks it's odd that you would want to read new books as opposed to re-reading the same book over and over. However, my play habits are that I focus on a handful of games and kinda go back and forth between them. I already paid for these game, and see no reason to now pay a sub for them as well.

I'm just not the target demographic for Game Pass. The benefit for me being they can do whatever they want with Game Pass and it has no effect on me.

Very similar here.  I have gotten fantastic benefit from Gamepass over the last few years.  Largely due to some very great discounted rates.   As those come to an end, I will likely not have a constant subscription but will pick and chose when to sub.

I'm a gamer nomad so I enjoy game pass. The other benefit, to me, is I've started branching out and trying games and even genres I normally wouldn't pay for. A good bit of them haven't worked out, but I have enjoyed a few games that I would have never played if I had to pay full price.

The reason I was asking about game pass is that generally once people have a subscription to anything they tend to stick to it, which is partly why companies like subscriptions so much. So how does it fit into overall purchasing, do players stop buying anything else, still mostly play purchased games and so on?

Though also asking as I have a three month pass unused, it looks back at my every time I look at my gaming side desk. :)

While it don't necessarily inspire confidence, I only care that it comes out good. If QoL(etc) requires more time, so be it.

I reevaluate my subscriptions every time my sub goes up.   It's why I no longer subscribe to Disney+ which was bundled with Hulu and ESPN+.  IMHO they got greedy and raised my rates too high. So instead of an annual sub.  I have been subless for the last 6 months.  Now I need Disney+ to watch college football so I will reactivate 1 month at a time starting 3 weeks from now.  Instead of say $100 a year for an annual sub, they will ding me for $15/mo and I'll pay for just 4 months so $60.   So they raised rates, but I will pay them 40% less this year than I did last year.

Same may happen with Gamepass.  Now they have significantly raised the rates.  I at one point had prepaid for 3 years with them   It will expire Sept 2025.  At that time, I will likely go and just pay for a month at a time when I want something they offer.
