    Cozy is a modern term in gaming for something that is boring. So whenever you hear the word cozy think of it as a stand-in for the word boring.

    I don't think cozy is bad.  To me it means games like Terraria/Minecraft (for the most part).  Games that are easy to dig into with high skill ceilings but easy to see the horizon...

    Certainly easy to dig into, easy is the key theme here, easier then most MMOs which are frankly built for ten year olds. I don't think Terraria or Minecraft are cosy games because of the graphics and maybe even their "difficulty". The picture in the article shows you what cosy is meant to be about.
