Is it a free content update or DLC? With them getting rid of the battle pass system, I am curious if they will go back to the themed DLC's? This sounds like a phenomenal update and I am excited for it. For survival games, I have the most hours invested in Conan and 76 and this really seems like a step in the right direction towards having a truly living and breathing community experience.

While I applaud the termination of the battle pass, I don't really see the wandering thralls as a big deal. Within a week, you'll be so used to it, the whole feature will become so much background noise. And, honestly, it's something that should have been in the game from beta, not something they're adding six years down the road.

As for companions, I'm supposed to be thrilled that my combat thrall now has a questline? OK, whatever. If they can die -- and they WILL die, given the terrible combat A.I. in this game -- it sounds like just another source of frustration in a game that already contains too much frustration.

My friends are excited, but I truly don't get it. Like, every time they've oohed and aahed over some aspect of the game, I'm totally underwhelmed and have to bite my tongue to keep from going, "Really? THIS blows your skirt up?" Diff'rent strokes and all that, but it's just such a bad game from a design perspective. I often wonder how many players they would have if not for the modding community -- it seems like mods are the only reason the game is playable at all. I guess if you're super into the IP, you can forgive a lot.
