Looking for a mmorpg to play.

SiveriaSiveria Member UncommonPosts: 1,421
So I am looking for a mmorpg, I recently finished the main story quest and some other stuff in ff14 so not really interest in stuff that plays like it. I am not picky about graphics if the gameplay is good enough.

I am looking for something thats a bit of a grinder with a decent item system with maybe slightly randomized stats or something if that exists. Just tired of modern mmorpgs and how they are all basically the same thing in a diff skin these days.

Being a pessimist is a win-win pattern of thinking. If you're a pessimist (I'll admit that I am!) you're either:

A. Proven right (if something bad happens)

or

B. Pleasantly surprised (if something good happens)

Either way, you can't lose! Try it out sometime!

If you want an MMORPG that is substantially from the stereotypical WoW clone, then play a game that is different.  Too many people seek out games that don't try anything much different from the norm, then complain that they're all the same.

I've been playing Uncharted Waters Origin for about the last 17 months.  It is a very slow leveling game, as no one has yet reached the level cap, though one player might get there around the end of this year.  Ships have random stats rolled at construction, though ship parts and mate gear generally don't.  So it does more or less fit what you say you want.

But while UWO has combat, it isn't primarily about combat.  It's primarily about trading, though it also has a major emphasis on exploration.

If you play on the Utopia server and choose Joao as your starter admiral, I can get you into the #2 guild on the server.

i have been playing Pax Dei for a wile now and we are all waiting on this next big update.
seeing the server are full. most of them even the RP server is Maxed out 20,000 players per shard. and a server being over 120K players.
they have said they will be upping the player cap with the next update.

Pax Dei (US East) Server (Freyja) Map=(Inis Gallia) heartland=(Aras) Online (Full) so if you are not or can not get in. we started ALTs on another server so more can join us.
        (US East)-(Cernunnos) Map=(Inis Gallia) heartland=(Aras)
but only a few server still have room.
you can move your home location on the Map and Heartland in game, may take hours or days to do this.
so just getting in the server is the hard part servers have more than 120k players but they will be upping the cap with the new update from what i hear.

Actually what you described sounds like an ARPG.  "bit of a grinder with a decent item system with maybe slightly randomized stats"

Why don't you try a different genre?

Fractured Online has a free to play trial going on right now.

I enjoyed the item system in FO because everything is player made - you can make the best gear in the game (1); however, it can be one helluva grind to get there.   The progression in this game (rank 50) can be pretty quick, but I found it interesting in that you have to explore the ENTIRE MAP to get that.

    NOTES
    -------------------------------------
1: You can make the best gear in the game and anyone can use it, so there isn't some weird immersion breaking idea that this person can make a sword but for some reason nobody else can use it.   You know, the stupid mechanics of every themepark ever?

Soulbinding can help regulate the supply of certain items, preventing oversaturation of the market.

This isn't a signature, you just think it is.

If you like grinding, RvR open pvp and an interesting item system, maybe consider Champions of Regnum? Regnum has a good array of equipment to collect, including some crafting. The endgame is all about RvR, so you know there will always be something unusual going on at the end.
