Why does this game need a season pass? I thought it was a Singler-Player/Co-op game.

Has PvP as well, FYI. It's not an offline single player game with optional co-op with friends if that was your frame of reference for your comment. It has a campaign that can be played solo, but can also be played co-op. That's only one of the three game modes, though. It has a PvE mission mode similar to Helldivers and PVP.

The season pass is purely for cosmetics. All new weapons, game modes, etc will be available for everyone who bought the game regardless of if they also have the season pass. Very similar to several other games already out. Edit:

"On the other hand, 2025 will see the release of the most important content of the first year. Seasons 3 and 4 will arrive with new cooperative missions, new weapons and enemies, prestige ranks for multiplayer, new combat arenas and maps for competitive mode, and a new horde mode, all completely free of charge." Pulled from a different article.

I'm old enough to remember when games just released and you bought the entire game.

At least they're up front about it, which I appreciate. It looks very good, but I'm not interested in more GAAS, so this drops it way down my list.

I picked up LotR: Return to Moria for $20 on Xbox and like it more than I expected. It's much more solid than game sites made it sound.

Yeah, I am too. I'm also old enough to remember when games could be made by 4 guys in a garage like id Software did with Doom. Now it takes an army of developers, artists, musicians, and more plus a 8-9 figure budget to put out something with AAA production values. Plenty of pixel graphics indy games on Steam if you're yearning for the days of yore. This just isn't one of them.

At least all of the major updates are free. The only thing you can 'buy' is cosmetic.

Keep crying. If you don't want to pay for the battlepass then don't.
