Vampire: The Masquerade - Redemption launched 24 years ago and still hasn't been topped in the franchise.
I want it to be good cause World of Darkness is a universe with huge potential but the more I read about this new iteration the sadder I get. Not that it's not based on Bloodlines (which was almost on par with Redemption) but that it feels way uninspired and limited.

Uninspired and limited? How so? Other than perhaps not including certain vampire types?
Otherwise it looks inspired but an inspired vampire game.
There decision to add a voice to the player’s character, a name and then some sort of spiritual companion does feel like their making another game.
Just set in the masquerade universe and using the rules (I assume).

I think there may be some confusion here? A game which is inspired by another is not necessarily an inspiring game itself. It can be quite bad in fact, "inspiring" is just a marketing word used to make the game seem closer to the original than it really is.

Unispired as a game itself. It feels like a generic 1st person ARPG. A bad copy of Dishonored but with vampires. Nothing about this game tells me it's special in any way. My only way to describre it is: mediocre/uninspired.
The RPG side feels limited. Almost no dialog options. Almost no gameplay options (stealth-brute force).
Nothing of this comes as a suprise because the ones that where trying to make this a good game left the project. Will all due respect to The Chinese Room they know nothing about RPGs, they know nothing about free-range gameplay. They are a studio creating walking simulators and not very good ones.

Well as always we can wait for the reviews, I never make my mind up till then but you are not the first poster to send up a red flag about the game.

I don't even think it has a nod to the original game other than the title!
