I've only back one, Ashes of Creation, because the concept was appealing and the lifetime subscription provided a break-even point of roughly 2.5 years. I'm willing to stay subbed to appealing MMOs for about 2 years, so it was a pretty easy decision for me.
I liked everything about it, the art, the style, the premise, pretty much everything they put on the table, was what I was looking for
The Beta was amazing, legit, the game was looking to be exactly what I wanted. I joined a huge guild, that was already building meta concepts and roles,. I loved seeing the landscape transform, things getting added in, in the beta, it was a grand experience of the world getting built around me as I played
Then for some asinine reason, they changed the graphics at launch, I needed to get a new card to handle the load, which set me back a bit, when I got in, there was this long ass tutorial, that felt bogged down, and when I finally got into the game, all the bad parts, like class imbalance where just as bad as they were from beta, like no effort at all was made to balance out the classes or fights.
All in all, the beta was better then the live game, on pretty much every level
And anyone that tells a developer that imbalance is balance, is lying to them
But 10/10, would do again, for the right game
Egotism is the anesthetic that dullens the pain of stupidity, this is why when I try to beat my head against the stupidity of other people, I only hurt myself.
