I appreciate what this team of devs is doing. The thought of jumping into an old school game with a lot of players trying to get that feeling from 20+ years ago is exciting. When you enter its pretty cool to see hundreds of people doing it, all kinds of talk and questions, lots need help, lots are helping. Its great. Hell Yeah, Lets Hunt!

But.. then you pull out your sword and attack or cast your magic spell on a creature, like say a rat and you do 1/10 damage to its health bar, and by the time its dead you have to rest for a while..

You might love it, you might hate it, or you might just puke, Experiances Vary..

Well, my opinion is that a person should never be fighting rats unless they are over 6' tall or some such thing.

Or like in Everquest 2, at launch, suddenly I have snakes attacking me consistently. Embers Adrift has me attacking small bunny things or deer.

Sometimes I think these developers just have no clue.

As far as the resting goes, I'm fine with resting if it's a very hard and exciting battle. Fighting one mob and then resting for 30 seconds isn't great.

I tried it again today but I was unable to figure out how to read the starter scrolls in my back pack to learn the first two spells. I tried clicking everyway possible but nothing..

I did kill a rat with the noob club but it was a close one. Very exciting. Had to run back to the gate the rest though and just logged out and deleted the game.

Of course you read the quick start guide first before playing, yes?  I recall old school MMORPGs came with actual printed manuals that we used to read cover to cover before getting underway.

    Here's a section on spells
    • Your spell book must be equipped in a Belt Slot in order for you to use it

    • When you first enter the world, you’ll likely have spells or abilities in your inventory

    • Use the ‘B' key, then add spells and abilities to your book from your inventory

    • Spells, Innate (abilities), and Skills each have their own tab in the book

    • Drag Spell & Ability Scrolls from your inventory into the appropriately tabbed book page

    • Clicking on a spell that’s been “scribed” into your book, lets you then add it to your ability bar by:

      • Left-clicking on an Ability Slot on the Ability Bar

      • Or pressing the 1-0 keys to add it to the corresponding slot

There's also a video on it if you like, 10 steps to easy spell casting

    They certainly nailed 'old-school'.

I prefer to remember the gameplay and the communities not the graphics. :)
