This is actually disgusting. People who bought into this cash grab just lose everything they purchased.

FF mobile games are garbage. It was almost 10 years running and I could never get into it tbh.

That eventually happens with every online game. They ran it for a good number of years, and people who expect that the game would never shut down are unreasonable.

I agree 10 years especially for a mobile game should be all players expect, what about the likes of Concord though, that to me shows the game glut problems the industry is facing.

Unreasonable? I think it's unreasonable for games to just disappear. 100% they should have made this an offline game.

What IS unreasonable to expect people to be okay with a game just disappearing if it's one of those gatcha games.

Also, it launched in October 22, 2015.

8 years is a good run? I guess if you consider it for what it is - garbage - but I also happen to know the updates pretty much stopped several years ago, so it could have been nixxed much sooner. The only reason it stayed online for longer was to try and milk from it's playerbase.

This is a shitty practice that needs to stop from devs. If a game reaches a specific monetary threshold, the devs should be held accountable to have an offline plan for players after it shuts down.

I'm not saying stay online forever, I'm saying conversion to offline platform should be mandatory if sales reach a certain point. It's really weird people are just cool with these things disappearing forever.

Most of them are (like Ever Crisis), but Opera Omnia was actually good and actually had one of the fairest mobile monetization until they shut it down. That ends up being the problem, if its 'too fair' then its just not as profitable as something that can drain money. The other problem is that its too tempting to shut these games down so they can release something else to re-drain those same people.
