I agree. Its currently the only MMO I play. I took my time, got my first 80 and completed the story up to date. Started leveling an Earthen and getting another up to 80. Blizzard really focused on giving players choices and it shows. I love delves and a lot of the events. The theater event on the Isle is a lot of fun too.

If you had told me back in Nov 2004 that WOW would still be relevant 20 years later I would have scoffed.

To see how little the genre has progressed in the directions I had originally envisioned back before WOW is disheartening, sort of how my expectations for the space program went since 1969 as well.

I have to ask - what were those directions and expectations for the MMO genre? I had hoped with the coming of SWG that it was playable worlds where I could live in that universe. SWG was that. I had hoped Middle Earth Online would be as well. My dream MMO was like something like DAOC meets the Sims meets SWG. I know the SIms sounds strange but I really wanted that aspect of community/crafting/life experience in the game (not like relationships and babies and stuff but housing/building).
